When monies are given to the NRA, how much is used for the PVF and how much is used for "administrative duties"? Are professional fund raisers used or are these solicitors volunteers? Just wondering

I believe that general membership dues covers the magazine, membership programs, and basic administration.

Contributing to the ILA is what gives money to fight the good fight.

"The NRA" is really multiple organizations. When you sign up as a member your $35 pays for the magazine and administrative costs. FWIW if you don't want the magazine you can be a member for $10/year.

NRA-ILA is the 501c4 lobbying group.

NRA-PVF is the political action committee (PAC) that gives $$$ to people running for office.

"Friends of the NRA" and "NRA Legal Defense Fund" are both 501c3 organizations. "Friends" money is used for education and range development, while LDF pays for costs involved with civil rights lawsuits.

IIRC there's not a whole lot of transfer of money between the organizations.

NRA is allowed to contribute only a tiny fraction of their money to ILA. The money they can put into those branches can be used only for general operations. If you want your money to go to political / legal action, cnotribute to the appropriate ILA or PVF.

There is an advantage beyond money to the ILA, simple numbers. When osama and his ilk think about grabbing our guns the NRA numbers give them pause. To be safe I donate to both, and gave a membership to an employee.
