I was looking over past posts and want to be clear about getting a conversion cylinder for my Pietta 1858 Remington. Do either the Howell or Kirst cylinders require fitting? It seems some do some don't. I'd like to switch back and forth so I don't want to alter the frame. So which one requires less fitting if any?

My Kirst required very minor stoning of small raised protrusions on outer edges(is designed for such) of the bottom flat on back up plate. Said flat can be seen in pics . Kirst supplies clear insrtuctions for doing so if required and it is no big deal,
