OK, Now that the SW1911 is the Only 1911 that we can buy New in MA, I may get one. For handguns, I shoot 9mm, .357 mag, 38 Spcl, and of course .22. the one time I tried an SW1911 at the Smith & Wesson Range, I was very impressed. Not bad for less than $700.

umm...1911's are cool?

you can only buy one type there? not even used ones?

thats just dumb.

chicks dig em?

if you tried it and liked it. buy one.

just make sure its a 45. all real 1911's are 45

In .45, of course!!!

Actually we can get used 1911's here if they were in-state prior to 10/98 per the 1998 Law, if you can find them.
The used prices are more than "New" prices, sometimes 1.5X or more!

Because JMB designed it? ;) It is ergonomic, powerful, easy to conceal, robust, CDI factor is high, historical, and about million other things.

I've heard nothing but good things about the SW1911. Every review I've read gave it high marks. If you shot one and liked it, get it.

Not a bad price for that gun, get it and you will love it. All gun owners should have at least 1 1911 in their collection. I love my Kimber.

1911's in Mass

I agree that you have a very kimited selection of handguns in the Peoples Republic of massachusetts. However there is another legal way. You can buy a frame and have a 1911 made for you.
Contact me via email for the details.

Dont get one.....old technology and 45 ammo is expensive. Its a very large and heavy gun...with no real advantage over the newest plastic vantastic future tech s/auto.....
OK....kidding.....Im on the (%*&$ list over at 1911 Forum after those comments.......I can tell :D
Shoot well

The 1911 may not be the magic sword, but it comes pretty close for many people. Few guns have its combination of good features all in one package.

-1911s are very ergonomic, and thanks to their thin slides very comfortable to carry IWB. It;s arguably the easiest full-sized service gun to conceal and carry.

-1911s have excellent triggers with very short travel, very conducive to rapid and accurate fire. They are quick into action when carried cocked-and-locked, which is the only proper way to carry a 1911.

-1911s shoot a serious cartridge with an outstanding reputation for stopping fights.

-1911s use single-stack magazines, which makes for flat and very portable reloads. A double mag carrier of 1911 magazines has half the bulk of a double-stack magazine carrier.

-1911s come in many interesting calibers. You can get one in .45ACP, 10mm, .38 Super, 9mm, 9x23 Winchester, and .40S&W. That's not counting all the wildcat conversions and single-shot top ends.

-1911s are the small block Chevy of the gun world. Every holster maker has leather for them, and every gunsmith knows how to fix and tune them. 1911s have more aftermarket parts available than any other pistol design.

-The 1911 is the American Handgun. Chesty Puller, Audie Murphy and Alvin York carried one. It has served the nation well for almost a century, and it's more popular than ever.

Don't get it unless you want a gun that was designed way before they had to worry about lawsuits and the PC pukes.

The 1911 was designed to do one thing very well and do it over and over and over again.
