Hey fellas'

Thought id run this by you. I live in a somewhat suburban area, and i was wondering how to make my mother see that she really needs to renew her CWP. She knows that i carry, and has no problem with it, but she doesnt seem to interested in getting it renewed.

The reason why i ask is that she often walks our family pugs on her days off at the local school. I have no problem with this, because not only exercise for her, but the great doggies. The thing that gives me worry is that she often walks them behind the local elemnentary school, and the woods behind them. Very secluded, and a ways from people. I would feel safer if she had a gun with her, i have offered to loan her my .44 special before, but she kinda skirted around the issue.

My question is, how do i make it a priority, id be willing to buy her a smaller, lighter gun so she will routinely carry it, any suggestions???

Thanks in advance...

Tell mom you'd rather buy her a gun than a casket and flowers, then take her to a range with firearms for rent. See what she likes and dislikes. Buy her one. Take her back to the range and help her familiarize herself with it. Give her ammunition for Christmas. Give her a fancy holster for Valentine's Day.

It is said "one cannot change people, places and things" and the only person that can change a person is that person themselves.

Yeah well, I had the pleading of a daughter and son to get their mom to renew hers...So being as I was in the position to do so, the timing was right, had this mom come down , put on a 'bunny suit' and get a good look at the young mom on the OR gurney dead and raped. So I am a tacky bastard and the mom tossed her cookies. She renewed her CCW. You do what you gotta do they say...

Renew CCW

Not sure of your location, but you could use Oregon's Meth problem to drive the point home. This drug makes people clinically psychotic and we've had problems in this vicinity with the psycho's causing problems, occasionally very distasteful problems when they break into peoples homes to kill them and then steal their modest possessions. I see meth heads much like varmints, nobody will miss them when they are gone!

I like the OR gurney example, it's a good one. Albeit very gruesome, reality tends to sink in to folks a little better than the "you should be prepared" speech we all heard or given. Seeing something like that brings the reality of the dirty nasty world into perspective. It really kills a lot of the "that'll never happen to me" arguments in their tracks.

PS - I worked in OR for a while, it's a great eyeopener to the "never happen to me" crowds. I lived in a small community and saw an average of one GSW per quarter. I worked in OR, so I only saw the people with an inkling of hope left. I did not deliver bodies to the morgue, so these numbers are probably higher than my direct experience.
