Hi everyone, I´ve been around this forum for a while. What a great deal of information you guys share. Thank you all for that.

I´ll like to know your opinion about this specific load from CORBON for SD. I´ve been reading all kind of reviews about it, ranging from "The best there is" all the way to "Unaccurate", "Not enough penetration" and "Frangeable jacket" or even "Dangerous". Actually, my concern is related to the fact that almost everyone referes to it as a HOT LOAD and in the other hand, you can see that it has ballistics numbers (1250 fps - 436 ft/lb) not found on any +P load from other respectable manufacturerer. It makes me wonder if it´s really a load that properly falls in the +P category in terms of actual chamber-barrel pressure.

I bought it to be used on both my CZ75b and CZ110 (which is a 3.8" barrel polymer framed pistol), but I´ll like to know your thoughts before test fire it at the range.

FYI, my other alternatives for SD ammo are Magtech Guardian Gold 115 JHP+P, Winchester Silvertips 115 JHP and Seller and Bellot 124 JHP. Unfortunately, ammunition availability is unconsistent where I live.

Thanks for reading and I´m looking forward to hear from you.

If it costs too much for me to use for practice occasionally??
(Practice with what you carry)

It costs too much.

And it costs too much for me.

The shootee will never know the difference if you can dump most of a mag COM with any 9mm loads and hit what you shoot at due to lots of practice.

In other words.
If you need +P Corbon ammo to make the 9mm effective?
You should have bought a bigger gun in the first place.
Or practiced a lot more instead of spending your money on Designer Ammo.

It's good stuff.

It'll work in a CZ just fine, and it gives great penetration in 9mm. No need to go to a bigger round than 9mm+p or .45acp +p with the bullet selection as of these days; if you can't kill or incapacitate a threat with those two rounds, time to grab the rifle anyway.

I'll practice with what I carry, but only hits count. Use whatever you can afford, and if CorBon is that, then you're doing just fine.

I use Corbon DPX plus P in all my pistols I like the copper bullet better than JHP.
I have never had a problem with Corbon ammo. Yes cost a little more but I feel worth it

It's probably fine, but I personally wouldn't be shooting a +p round on a regular basis. I don't shoot +p anything. If you need more pressure, move up in caliber and stop tearing up your gun.

It's a good round; you could do worse. But there are no magic bullets or cartridges. Assuming your gun works properly, be certain to actually hit what your shooting at in the place where you're intending to hit.

With that in mind, shot placement is king and practice, practice, practice.

As far as +P goes, there's nothing wrong with it, but over time it will cause battering above what a normal pressure round will cause in the same time period. How long is that? I got no idea. Where I live the Winters are mild and the Summers are hot which means the likelihood of me needing a +P's supposed greater penetration is basically nil. If I feel I need something more powerful, I'll move to a more powerful round ... full house 10mm usually.

I would go with .40S&W. Ammo available anywhere and no 'one or two boxes per customer' to deal with either.

The 40 is a good choice too, but given the better design of 9mm bullets now days, a high end 9mm is not all that much less than a 40. I own several 40s and load for all and shoot them regularly, but if you are looking for a substantial increase in power (muzzle velocity and energy mentioned by the OP) a top end 10mm will get you there no questions asked is my point.

My two "defense" loads for my 10mm guns are a 150 grain Brass JHP (Golden Saber) at an MV of 1,400-1,450 fps (Summer) and a 180 grain Brass JHP (again Golden Saber) at an MV of 1,250-1,300 fps (Winter). Both clocked with my PACT2. These rounds are clearly far above what is safely achievable in a 40 with the same bullet weights.

Corbon is hot...but not so much that I would be worried about shooting it regularly.

Bought 250 rounds of "juicy" 'HPR' cartridges 180gr JHP. While I'm leery of ammo companies I'm not familiar with the slug appears to be Hornady and $37/50 was reasonable. I will be sure to wear quality eye protection and pair of Ove gloves while shooting the stuff.

Hi everyone, and thank you all for your responses.

I´m affraid that some people here are missing the point. Caliber is out of a question. I have decided to use 9mm pistols for several reasons which I will not bring to the subjetc on this thread. However, I´m trying to achieve SD maximum performance from that plataform without exceeding acceptable safety margins.

I´m aware that using +P ammunition will cause greater battering on firearms and I will not be using it for practice shooting other than reliability test and to get familiar with the specific round in terms of accuracy. Recoil and muzzle flip doesn´t really concern me, since I have no poblem to manage them while slow shooting or fast follow up shots.

I´m more interested to know other people´s experience specifically with CORBON´S 9mm+P 125 JHP´s or the other loads mentioned on the original post for that matter.

Again, thanks for your help and hopefully we will be hearing more of people´s knowledge.

I've had a little of the CORBON stuff (115 gr) and it is reliable out of my gun, but it is pricy.

For a lot less, I can get HSTs, PDX1s, and Gold Dots that'll do the same job.

I am not a fan of S&B, as in my experience, it has more recoil (well, "perceived" recoil) than comparable ammo due to hard primers. Steyr even advises against using it. I haven't tried any of the others on your list. My SD ammo of choice is Fiocchi Extrema XTP 124gr or Golden Saber 124gr +P, although there are others I've tried without complaint.

Hi everyone.

Thank you certaindeaf and 481 for your suggestons. Jesse James, I sure will give it a try for a couple of boxes. Torian, thats something I realy wanted to know, thanks.

Inazone, I always thought that the extra recoil from the S&B ammo was a consecuence of it being a "hotter" load given CIF specifications.

I wish I could get some favorable reports in terms of performance of Magtech Guardian Gold because its the most affordable of these specialty loads and its available. Both my CZ´s seem to like it.

As soon as I find something, I´ll let you know.
