Have started using remingtons 55 gr core lokt .223s in reloads with variable results. Sometimes I get a good thru and thru, others bullet pulls up under skin on other side after whacking some bones mushrooming like in their ads, and other times it "skin pops" blowing a big crater, and filling the cavity with lead fragments and an empty jacket. The load is 26 grns of ADI 2208 primer is cci small rifle and the loads chrono at 3200 plus or minus 25. Ranges vary between 100 and 200 yards, target is feral goats. The thumbnail shows a typical recovered empty jacket. Any advice on what is causing the variation in bullet performance would be appreciated cause the wounded ones can be buggers to track down.

Pretty sure Remington doesn't make 55 Grain Core lockt...they are just pointed soft points. I am not sure they are meant to be used on something as big as a goat either. I think they are meant to be quick expanding varmint bullets to be used on groundhogs and gophers

The only thing I shoot with those don't put up to much resistance, I would move up to 6mm to solve your tracking problem but then I have never been an advocate of using 22 RF or CF on an animal larger that a coyote.

Thanks guys after looking at the remington site, I must have a word with the gunshop where I got the projectiles from, they came in a bulk bag with a remington core lokt label on it.
