All sorts of models spring to mind. But ... the only person who is truly qualified to select a handgun for your girlfriend is ... your girlfriend. Have her visit the Cornered Cat website for some ideas, and then take her to a range that rents guns; or invite your friends along who own guns that she might have an interest in. Let her take her time, try a wide variety of firearms, pistols as well as semi-autos, and finally select the one that best suits her hand and eye.

Well lets see, the Kahr is out because of the trigger - too bad. The CW9 or P9 are great guns inspite of the unususl trigger pull. The Sigs and HK's are pricey. Glocks and Springers are too wide and not singe stack. PPS hurts the hand. That leaves the Bersa Thunder, Taurus PT111 Pro, new DB380, Taurus 708 slim, Taurus 85 (.38 spl.) snubbie, S&W snubbies, and a very few others.
Seems to me you and girlfriend need to do some more trying and research before you make a choice. Every gun is a compromise in one way or another and there isn't a perfect one, except maybe the 1911 of course. You might want to look at the Para LTC. 9mm in a 1911 Commander size platform. Don't over look the Browning Hi-Power, though they are getting pricey too. A lot of women like the Hi-Power because of the grip size.
