There is just something so fundemental about that model of the AR-15/M-16 that just always draws me right in. Though I appreciate all the rails and doo-dads found on today's examples, the basic uncluttered original AR is my faorite as well. The only accessory I like is the 4x Colt scope on the carry handle and a green USGI sling....Nice rifle 1K - thanks for sharing!

Nice! :)

That's my favorite style of AR. I built an M16A1 clone with a surplus upper and put an A2 sight post and rear aperture on it. I find that I shoot it more than any of my other rifles.

I just wish someone would make a barrel for it with a 1/9 twist.

nice!.I've been thinking about getting one.Saw a couple at a show recently that got my thoughts ticking lol!

Question;why the designation SP-1 instead of AR-15a1 or something. What does SP signify?

lion,

I think SP was the Sporter designation. Probably wrong, but there is my free 2 cents.

didn't SP-1'S, latter ones have a forward assist?All the SP1's I see for sale don't though.

I didn't think the SP1 had the forward assist. They had the M16 upper. The later Colts marked Sporter, had the forward assist. Actually about a useless feature, imho.
