The nuttiest stuff usually comes from people who have something to believe in, and these people believe in their dogs.

http://www.rottweiler.net/forums/general-info/63288-viscious-rotts-across-street.html

I went there for help and advice and was attacked, called a hillbilly and a liar, told that I deserved to have my puppy attacked, and then I was deleted and banned. There was a small amount of advice.Read all 4 pages, it just gets crazier.

rottweilers are known as aggressive and dangerous dogs. there is nothing you can do about irresponsible dogs except to shoot the dogs the next time they show up on your property and attack you.

after you shoot the dogs, sue them for the emotional distress caused by having to shoot a dog. they know there is a problem and refuses to deal with it.

sue the dog breeder that sold them to irresponsible owners.

one thing is correct - putting a dog out on a chain in an unfenced yard is irresponsible on your part. chained up dogs are far more likely to have issues. get a fenced in yard or a run for the puppy. the puppy will be happy and safe.

I have to agree with the crazies, chaining your dog in the front yard is something a git would do, especially after one encounter with the dogs across the street.
You had the opportunity to handle the situation but did not,in fact you forgot the three esses, Shoot, Shovel, and Shut up.
Good luck to you and again, if you dont have the time to housetrain a dog, and make it a pet, dont have one.

My sister-in-law killed a rottweiler this last weekend. It came over and attacked her animals. She put 16 rounds into it before it went down. Although, the only thing that she had with her at the time was a .22 revolver. She had to reload several times.

Tell the Rottweiler nuts, "if your dogs come on my property and try to attack my dog, they will be shot." Unless you live in Boston, NYC, Chicago, San Fran or some other gun hating area, you have that right (but check with an attorney to be sure). I would also file a complaint with the police or sheriff dept., to start a paper trail of irresponsible and unlawful actions on their part.

Most important of all, don't leave your pup outside alone with these predatory dogs on the loose. Be there with her, and be armed in case the Rotties attack.

There are no bad dogs, just bad dog owners, and it sure as hell sounds like the rottie owners qualify as bad owners.

Be safe and watch over your pup!

You might ask the local police what you are allowed to do if those dogs come on your property and you feel threatened. They are the ones who will get called and it might be best if you feel them out on the subject.

What some of these people don't understand is that a dog's behavior around it's master and it's behavior when the master ain't around can be two different things.

I would agree with others that you probably should not let your puppy out in front unsupervised.

As an Animal Control Officer, I see these things every day! I would highly advise not to shoot the dog. For the simple reason of discharging a firearm within city limits. That depending on the state can carry HEAVY penalties. It is the ACO's resonsibility to talk to the people and take further action if needed. Your city may have a "Vicious dog" ordinance, check into that. If all else fails call your mayor and talk to him one on one. The animals may need to be destroyed, as an only solution to the problem. Just keep your pet supervised at all times, and have some way (other than a firearm) to keep your beloved friend safe.

Your dog being attacked was not your fault, but don't leave her chained up in the yard. Take her for a walk, and bring a weapon. They are liable to jump the fence and come after both of you.

I used to have neighbors who left their poor Dalmation chained up in the yard ALL DAY, and the poor dog completely lost his mind after awhile.

I would definately go to the police, sign a complaint, and get that paper trail started. Every time the Rotts get out of their yard, call the police again. Eventually they might take some action just to keep you quiet. If they don't, Hell, sue them too, and sue the municipality you live in.

As far as the idiot who told you you might shoot into someone's house if you shoot the Rotts, don't worry about it. Presumably you are taller than the dogs, and will be shooting on a downward angle.

Also just to point out that just because an anmial is dog agressive, does not mean that it is people aggressive. Many "people" that train dogs to fight will kill an animal if it is people aggressive. One more thing I am not against firearms as weapons. I my self own several of them. My newest baby being an AR-15. If you live in an area that is rural and feel that is the ONLY way of dealing with the problem...well we cant condemn you for doing what needed to be done. But from the sounds of it, the dog needs to be destroyed.
