What about the second ammendment are they going to change that too.

watching it now. pretty silly question considering how its not going to happen any time soon. someone articulate needs to call for our side now.

Apparently their question is What do you think of a gun ban in the US and would it work?

CSPAN decided to ask this question because Brazil is weighing a gun ban.

I noticed the host actually talked to some of the gun banners but when the pro-2nd ammendment callers were on he seemed to just ignore them and make amused faces.

Watching that now, some of the points on there are freaking crazy. "The rich people importing these guns and drugs want us poor people to kill eachother"

Edit: Bah, who cares about a "killer flu" back to Dangerious Game on OLN :neener:

I called in from Lawrenceville, GA. I made sure to point out the california caller's ignorance of the constitution AND his liberal tendancy to name call (calling us 'yahoos.') How ignorant can you get?

Ignorance from people like this is one of the reasons I think people should carry guns. People like this will always blame others and our freedoms, and will never take responsibility for their own actions. I believe anti-gun people are very ignorant when it comes to guns, or intellectually dishonest, because they don't want people to have the ability to defend themselves for some future purpose. And I sadly believe the second option is where the politicians fall in, using the first to spread their hidden agenda.

*** - it's total crap

yeah, here I do recommend the Gun Facts 4.0 (link was up here recently). For example, UK has very stricted gun policy and robs the people from chance to defend themselves, thus the crime against person are at high level. Switzerland has a requirement that every male ages 20 - 40 (something like that) are to have a pistol or rifle at home, every one of those usually have body armour, grenades, something from SIG 550 series and a SIG Sauer pistol. Yet I haven't notice that people would die over there in bunch. So banning all guns serves only one purpose - robbing people from chances to defend themselves, as I've yet to see a criminal who cares about the law.

While we're at it, let's also ban free speech, freedom of association, due process, and private property rights.

Oh yeah I forgot. Those bans are already in the works.

Some of us need to wake up. But no 'harmful patriot rhetoric', please.

gun ban

I am a teacher in a High School. We had a Brazilian foreign exchange student come to visit our school and he spoke to our teachers. He informed us about the impending gun ban in Brazil and how he thought it was a good idea due to the high crime rate in the cities. One of our foreign language teachers spoke up and said "Yeah, Germany has such a ban and it has worked very well". I then spoke up and said "Yeah, it worked very well for them. Six million Jews, disarmed before WW2 were unable to defend themselves when they needed to.". The foreign exchange student then spoke up and said that he was Jewish and that he had no worry about that happening in Brazil. I had quite a few teachers trash me about being anti-government. What I can't understand is that when you look at the 20th Century, the biggest mass murderers were governments who killed unarmed citizens. These sheeple are looking at government to take care of them - the government will, in their own way.

Interesting. I was under the impression that there weren't many guns left in Brazil that are still legal to own. I thought they carried out a pretty strict ban already.

Germany, on the other hand, doesn't allow concealed carry but does not seem to have a true ban, either. Lots of red tape, similar to living in New Jersey or Illinois, is my understanding.

cool I thought you were one of the better callers

You should have gotten him up in class and had him explain the reasons for his certainty. Reasons so strong that he's willing to give up his rights, the rights of his fellow citizens and the rights of future generations. I know, it will be some mystical sort of thing, something with no hard evidence, scientific tests or historical fact to back it up. Faith in God is one thing, faith in your government is something else entirely.

"That can't happen here!". "It won't happen to me".

We should make a list of all the times these words have been spoken and then the real world intrudes and bites the speaker on the backside.

"Don't worry! Be happy!"

Politics today is, if its not my toy, tool or operation, I want it banned. The 1960's generation had one thing right when they said "do your own thing".
I took that to mean mind your own business and I'll mind mine. (A getting off of the soapbox icon would go nice right here) ;)

Yeah I wish

C-SPAN in the morning has such a potential to be one of the best liberty oriented television shows in America...

I remember a few years ago they had this all-morning broadcast of different Colleges with their respective mini-Cabin's and their own Solar Power systems. It was really neat.

They should do these all the time... And a lot of them should focus on Second Amendment issues.

How about 5 hours of, "Ok folks now it's time to go to our broadcast in Northern Maine where it's a snowy December day and we're trying out a DSA FAL versus Armalite AR10...." :D

Someone should call in and ask if the USA should ban free speech, right to trial by jury, the right to not testify aganist yourself, freedom of religion or the free exercise and see how everyone would react. It was a stupid question but not a surprising one. Only a so called liberal a lover of so called freedom answer yes to banning firearms. Amazing concept. :cuss:

I am shocked, I tell you, shocked!!!!

You mean people are actually WATCHING CSPAN at 7:00 on a Saturday MORNING????????????

Power and Politics
It's a power thing.

Wasn't it Mao that said, "... political power comes from the barrel of a gun."

I'm sure I once heard the full version of that quote, which continued with something like ", and we must make sure that the gun is always in the hands of the Communist Party."

But I just did a Google search and couldn't find any other version.
