Ok guys I bought a used cva wolf 50 cal yesterday for 75 bucks out the door. The barrel is pretty good on the inside but I can see a few rust spots. Is this a problem? If so what can I use to get it out. Second of all the types of powder which brand is the cleanest burning and most consistent. I've heard the white hots are a good choice. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Take some bronze wool and wrap it around a bore brush so it is tight in the bore, soak it in a good penetrating oil and scrub out the rust. The CVA Wolf shoots great with Pyrodex or Triple 7 pellets. Don't believe anyone that you need three pellets or 150 grains of propellant. 2 pellets or 100 grains works fine. Pesonally, I prefer one 50 grain and one 30 grain pellet for better accuracy and less recoil. Try several different brands of sabots to see which is most accurate. I have good results with the aforementioned powder charge, a .50 felt wad and a 320 Grain Lee R.E.A.L. bullet which I cast myself from pure lead.

JB Bore paste is som real good stuff. Once pitting is in the steel, its there for life so dont spend to much time trying to get it out.
