CZ 452 sights (and scope)?

After looking through various posts here, I'm close to purchasing a CZ 452 .22 LR rifle, either the Lux or the Training Rifle, if I can find one. Is there a specific name for the type of site these rifles have, as I'm not familiar with the appearance; and am I correct that these rifles are ready for scope mounting (looking at the new Nikon ProStaff 3-9x40; I will admit to knowing as much about scopes as I do rifles)? It's been many years since I've been around a rifle, and I'm definitely a novice. Thanks in advance for any help.

I've got a CZ452 Lux. Just from looking on the site I can't tell the difference between the Lux and the training. Mine has military style ladder sites ajustable from 25 yards to 200. I found I couldn't harness the accuracy potential of it using only the iron sites, so I slapped a 3-9x Simmons scope on it. Now it gets about 1.25" sites at 100 from a rest. Here's a picture of it from last summer when I "bagged" 25 ground squirrels in 1/2 an hour.

Thanks for posting the photo; that clarified what the front site looks like. As I understand it the only difference between the Lux and the Training is that the Lux has walnut stock, and the Training beechwood stock (and thus lower cost).

You should be very happy with your purchase. I bought a varmint model several months ago and love it. I finally got to shoot mine on sand bags a few weeks ago and was amazed how accurate it can be. If I took my time, five shot thorough one hole was not a problem at 25 yards no matter what ammo I was using. One of my best groups was about a .25 caliber hole using the cheap CCI Blazer stuff. My next outing I’m hoping to see what it can do at 50 yards.

I only have one small complaint and that about every 20 rounds or so the empty doesn’t extract properly. But that could be operator error of some type.

When I first got mine I took it out and zeroed it with hot Winchester 36 gr HPs.
After I finished zeroing it, I took a shot at a fly on the cardboard backboard on the target stand.
I missed, but I thought the hole made a nice target.
I fired five more shots through the same hole.
It will do almost as well with the cheap federal wallyworld stuff.

I just purchased a CZ Special from whittakersguns.com $179 +10 shipping to my ffl. These are very nice rifle and have the best open sights I have seen on any rifle. Even with the nice sights I still scoped it using B-Square airgun mounts.

If you intend to mount a scope, you might consider the CZ452 American. It has no iron sights and a straight comb American style stock. It's illustrated on the CZ website. This stock design lends itself to optics better than the one you are considering, although they obviously can be scoped with great success too.

I have the American and it's a keeper. One ragged hole groups from the bench at 25 yards with a Leupold 2-7x Rimfire scope.
