Thinking about adding a CZ 223 Varmint to the stable. What are your opinions of it?

Looking at the varmint since it has the same twist as my AR, might help simplify reloading a little.

I have the Kevlar version in .223. I like it a lot. I LOVE the trigger and not just the set trigger. The "normal" trigger is easily adjustable and is one of the best I own. I like the small size of the action. The safety is backwards, so be careful. Do some research on scope mounting options before buying rings. Some have modified the bolt handle to clear certain optics. My 3x9 Nikon works fine in medium Millett rings. Some dislike the protrusion of the single-stack magazine. I don't mind it. Fit and finish are good to great. Accuracy for most is excellent. I've finally gotten mine to about .75 MOA after a lot of handloading.

I'd say go for it. I've never heard of anyone hating theirs.

I have had a 527 American for several years.

For a 5 1/2 pound rifle, I'd not even consider getting a heavier version of it.

It shoots 3/4 MOA or less, hot or cold, with about any handload I stick in it.

I really like the CZ's, have a 204, 6.5x55 and whole herd of CZ rimfires, just have never had a CZ in 223.

Cz 527 223 varmint

viking499: I shoot a CZ 527 VARMINT, with a kevlar stock with palm swells on both sides. The Barrel is a Medium Heavy 24in with a 1 & 9 inch twist. I have had it for several years and it shoots extremly well, it will shoot 1 inch or less with any thing I have shot thru it. But Hand Loads it likes and the rifle will go 1/2 inch or less. My rifle likes 52gr A-MAX`s and 21 grs of IMR-4198, but like I said it will shoot anything I have tried very well. My AR`s like this load also. (( TRIGGER IS GREAT )).
