Most any buttpad-plate on commercial rifles is made from PLASTIC.

good looks, i'm not so much worried about the butt pad, i'm worried most about what's moving/protecting parts of the gun, but yea, the butt pad was a good catch

haha thanks, from what i've read, i can't let a gun like that go to waste. did u find it strange at first to have the magazine hang so low? and from the pictures it looks like the magazine slides into a grove machined into the front of the trigger guard correct?

I've always liked Mauser actions that used a protruding single stack magazine like the CZ527 or the M1891. The magazine fits into a channel inside the trigger guard.

Depends on the model.

My Full stock is rather slender where my carbine is somewhat thicker.

idk why i posted so many times, but those are nice looking guns. i'm looking into the 527 american model. i just like how a slender gun feels. the carbine doesn't look too thick, thinner than most guns made today, imo. how do you like the single set trigger btw?

I think you'll like the CZ 527, grafsk8er. I had one up until about six months ago that was chambered in 7.62x39. I got caught up worrying (induced by reading too much Internet trash ) that the round lacked sufficient power for deer hunting. I traded the gun and got a bigger rifle, which I immediately disliked for its extra weight and recoil. I'm about the sell the bigger rifle, and I just might go back to the CZ 527.

Krochus, what kind of scope and rings do you have on your CZ 527? They look like a good match for the gun. That was the only issue I ever had with the CZ 527 (other than the imagined impotency of the round it chambered :banghead. The bolt design makes it where you have to either get high rings or a scope with a small ocular diameter. That can be hard with there being so many overgrown scopes these days.

yea i think i will too, i hope to own one within the next month or so chambered in .221 fireball. should be lots of fun
