Does anyone have any Idea why the Daewoo K2/DR200 rifles have been climbing in price over the past few years. It seems like the asking price has doubled in the past 3 years. VGC K2s are now in the $1100-$1300 range while VGC DR200s w/Ace conversions are $750-$950 somrtimes more. I still see some less than that but they are sold almost as soon as they are posted for sale.

There wasnt much of a intrest in them before. So whats driving up the cost. Do you think that its all the DI AR15 hatred that so popular now? Are people just looking for a cheaper AR15 gas piston and figure the Daewoos are close to an AR in feel and cost less than POF or LWRC?

It seems as though ALL prices of firearms and ammo have doubled in the past few years!

:)

Yes they have, but for new firearms. AUG's and HK tac-ti-cool rifles have gonrethru the roof but the Daewoos sorta stayed the same. Then about 2 years ago they started climbing in "value". Its looking like the K1s might hit the 2K mark.

Simple matter of supply, the less that are available on the market the more the price is going to go up. I see less and less of them at shows and in gun shops the past couple years, I think the market for them is simply drying up.

Daewoo's are an interesting alternative to an AR so people are probably willing to spend more on them nowadays. I should have bought one years ago when they were a lot less expensive, now I don't think I'll ever get my hands on one. For what they are selling for a gun shows and gun shops I would rather spend that kind of money on something else. Although honestly I would be tempted to get one now if it were under $1K simply because it might be worth the investment down the road if prices continue to climb on them.

Im also surprised that we dont have a US made or a "Surplus" parts kits for sale in the states. It seems that some version of all the rifles banned have resurfaced by some small US company.

Well, I do loot at the Robinson Arms XCR as a k2/Dr200 sorta-clone. The XCR look like what would have happened to the K2 if it had the same attention from the aftermarket as the AR15.

Only ~1200 DR200 rifles were imported before they and parts were banned from importation. Without replacement parts, Daewoo rifles become "wall-hangers" immediately upon breakage of even the cheapest part. Not a good investment for most people.

Perhaps demand/price has increased now that you can buy US-manufactured replacement parts:

Anybody who has fired one will understand what a great rifle they are. AR15 rifle accuracy with an AK ruggedness & gas system. I'll never sell mine!

It ain't all bad! I've got a Daewoo K1 carbine thats gaining value daily.

The Daewoo was the "cheap" alternative to the "expensive" AR style guns for the years they imported Daewoo's.

Aside from an occasional Daewoo for sale online, just don't see the brand anymore.

The carbines don't have a gas piston. They are pretty much just a simplified AR 15 style gun.

Thats it, only 1200 Dr200s? How many K2's,K1'a other Daewoo models were sold State side? It seems like more. I see a few at almost every gun show here in Houston. Whats drying up are the old AR-180s.
