Wondering about the value of a Monson made Dan Wesson .22 revolver with a 4" barrel and no extras. Gun is in very good to excellent condition. I'm not looking for a collectable, just a good shooter in good shape...

I picked up an identically described model at a gunshow in SW Texas last year for $295 after haggling down from $325. Outstanding revolver.

I was able to purchase a barrel wrench off of e-bay for about $14.

I'd say that all of the older DWs (.357, .38, and .22) are real sleepers and offer better value, performance, and quality than prices would seem to indicate. I see most of them (sometimes with an extra barrel) for sale at around the $250-$350 range.

If it is less than $350 (and in good condition), get it. You are buying a weapon in the S&W M18 / M617 class for a lot less money. Like every other older revolver...they aren't making them anymore.

Good Luck.

I got mine about a year ago for $340.00. It also had a 4" barrel. Since then I've added an 8" tube and shroud from ebay before their psychosis on gun parts. I have a bunch of 22lr revolvers and before this my S&W model 17 was my favorite. No more. That Dan Wesson has to be the most undervalued and underappreciated revolver of all times. It is great. Snap up another one and get the accessories before they are rediscovered.

Don't see them often, last two I saw in CA in similar condition w/o much in the way of extras in the last 5 years were priced at $250 and $350. They sometimes seem to not sell as well as a S&W unless you wait for the right knowledgeable buyer.

Probably paid to much but I went ahead and bought a Dan Wesson .22 in excellent shape with 6 & 8 inch barrels, barrel wrench, and shim gauge for $410 shipped. It's a Monson made gun and I figured with the 2 barrels and the wrench it wasn't priced to bad. This is one of the rare times I found a "reasonable" buy it now price on Gunbroker. The bid was already at 360 so it was worth it to me just to get it on it's way. Should get it mid-next week and I'm anxious to get it to the range...

Makes me feel a bit better that someone else thinks this is a fair deal. Good DA .22 revolvers are just so hard to find at reasonable prices. Found a S&W 17-4 last week at a local store but it was really rough and had obviously been shot a ton. Store wanted $300 and wouldn't budge. Looked hard at a new 617 but really didn't want to pay $620+tax for a new gun with that ugly lock...

I always thought they were pretty good guns. All targets are 50 shots offhand at 15 yards.

With both barrels not too horrible a price. And yes you are so correct on the lack of decent, fair priced, .22lr DA revolvers.

Well, looks like I now own 2 Dan Wesson .22s

I had forgot I had bid on another DW .22 and I really didn't expect to win it as the bidding was aggressive. This one is an excellent condition Monson gun with 4" barrel. Now I'll own 2 of them and I'm actually pleased about this. I'll keep the one I like the best and give the other to my son for his birthday. Luckily my FFL only charges me a single fee ($15) for up to 3 guns...
