Looking at buying one of these with a 3" barrel no barrel pack or tools. Any body have one or had one i have heard some good things like being very accurate, how do they hold up? Asking price is $325.00 which I think is a little strong I have not seen the gun he says 95% plus condition. How is the resale market if I decide not to keep it is there a cult following for these or not so much?

Where was it made. Monson or palmer?? Look also to see if it has what is called a porkchop shroud. The shroud go's to the bottom of the frame not just a nice return to the frame. Also is the nut on the barrel recessed or surfaced ? Never seen a 3" barrel. If 4" from front of barrel to cylinder it is a 4". If in any desent condition that sounds like a far price. My 15-2 is 34+ years old and has had over 8000 rounds in its life, still shoots like new and is one first class revolver still. You can get a wrench and shim kit along with many parts and service if needed from CZ. If you go the the dan wesson forum, there a guy there that makes and sells wrenchs and a company is gearing up to make barrels so we have more choices. The DW forum is just a good info site too. Any feeler gauge of 6TH's or less will work. I set my gap at 2Th's on my 15-2 and 44mag. Blue Ridge Blueing has some springs for them and use to at one time do there blueing. (page7b) under your home page search will give you access to manuals too. Hope you get the DW

The monson plant is preferred? will this be stamped on the gun? On the barrel nut what is preferred the recessed? He said it was a 3" barrel I have not seen it so probably a 4"barrel.

Quality control at Monson was better (look on the right side of the frame below the cylinder); Palmer guns were hit and miss in fit and finish. The "porkchop" models (where the rear of the shroud extends down to the lower edge of the frame) had both exposed and recessed muzzle nuts. The later "straight" shrouds were recessed nut only. Barrels and shrouds are available on gunbroker.com as well as CZ Arms.
Prices for Dan Wessons are steadily increasing. Rumor has it that CZ Arms is considering putting them back into production.

BT Mine is a great monson gun and for the most part are the better. Aong with the recessed nut. Go to DW forums and check out the picture sections and info there.

Next time you'll be better informed and able to jump quicker! Prices can be all over the place... I lucked into a 15-2 in a complete 4 barrel Pistol Pac at the beginning of the year for just over $600. I couldn't believe it when they told me it had been sitting out on consignment for several weeks.

They are great shooters, hopefully you'll be able to get yourself one.

The best thing to do , if you see a gun you're interested in; is to check the gun auction sites for similiar guns and check the going price and compare condition. Gunbroker and Auction arms are the most used and realistic prices, GunsAmerica always seem high. Currently any good condition Dan Wesson under $375 is a bargain. As stated above, they're great guns and fantastic shooters.

They can handel heavy loades. My 357 has the 2.5, 4, 6 and 8 inch barrels. My 44 has the 4 and a custom 2.5

I have a dan wesson model 15 from the monson plant, by far the best revolver I have ever owned., if you see one @ around $ 400 in reasonable shape grap it, you won't be sorry mine is right below my glock

I had a 15 made in Monson. I really like the trigger pulls on the DW revolvers. I also like that you can adjust the cylinder gap and change the barrels out. The design is a lot simpler than some other companies too so you could easily work on it yourself if you had to. Accurate guns too. It's worth the $325. You used to be able to get them for a lot less but now the price has gone up. I've seen various models of the 15 in excellent condition sell for up to $375.
