Dang , the Swiss K 31 7.5 is so enticing

They seem to be about equal in power, but the average 7.62NATO round would be less accurate than the average 7.5 Swiss round, due to the differing manufacturing tolerances.
 
the k31 with its factory ammo is zeroed at 300 yards. so when you set it to 100 the POI will be high cause-i don't know why-the 100 is their 300. meters, not yards.
i load 44.5gr varget with a 168gr BTHP Sierra match king. phenomenal accuracy out to 300 yards. same bullet with 46.5gr replicates a .308 but is a bit too much pressure for the swiss bolt. 42 gr is the poa/poi at 100 yards for the 2 i have.
 
Every K-31 that I have had has been dead on at its 100 yard sight setting, but I've only had six of them so there might be some that shoot high. The 1911 and 96/11 rifles are zeroed at 300 yards however. They aren't like russian garbage where the rifle might be 'zeroed' at some range between 10-300 yards regardless of sight graduations.
 
i have 7 of them and haven't shot any of them yet, i have seen them jump in price in the past couple of years though. im cost averaged into them at right around $110.

“Someday” should be soon if you’re serious. Availability and price may be an issue; I have one and can recommend it – excellent rifle and cartridge.
 
Do not overlook their model 1911 or the 96/11. To me they seem more accurate than my K-31's

The standard GP-11 ammo is probably the most accurate ammo you can buy.
 
Get one, get it now. Won't be around forever. Cartridge is comparable to the NATO round and is going to be more, if not, the most accurate surplus round you can find. I have one, and it's actually dead on for the 100 yard range. Be interesting to see the ballistic drop on that round.

And TBS how does that device work? (I'm a lefty myself)

Never had a problem with the K31 or 1911 shooting high at 100yds,adjust the sights and they are dead on.Of course you can always get a diopter sight which I installed (no modifications needed) on my Beech K31.:D

Handloaders?,yeah you guys can get those killer tight groups but over all stock guns with GP11 or Prvi Partizan ammo deliver decent 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 groups at 100yds.

BTW , how long is the length of pull (end of butt to trigger) ? If its 12 .5 inch long, that be perfect.
 
Milsurpshooter/lionking- the lefty op rod is made by a swiss gunsmith named Burgin. It replaces the existing op rod from the bolt. There is a pivot point that allows the bolt to be pulled straight back. It is not for the faint of heart as it cost approx $320.00 depending on exchange rate.
There are some accurizing tips over at swissrifles.com that don't involve modifing the rifle that I used to get the most out of this particular K-31.

If your interested in getting the lefty op rod you can contact Guisan over at swissrifles.com or there will be an American made version coming out soon from St. Marie swiss products. These are the same outfit that make the sights I have on the rifle.

Looking for GP-11 Brass

Any of y'all got empty casings from your GP-11 expenditures you'd like to be rid of? Drop me an email, we can work something out.
 
7.5x55 will do anything the .308 will do (except fit a "short" action) at a lower pressure. GP-11 is likely the most consistent and accurate surplus ammo on the planet and non-corrosive to boot.
 
I would hate to think what these rifles would cost to manufacture today. Wonderfully made. Liked mine so much I bought three more.

Buy one. Now! Get off the couch and do it!
 
I chrono'ed mine with the 174 gr. GP-11 ammo, MV 2550 fps.
I also have a Styre Standard 300M CISM rifle that is chambered in 7.5 Swiss. With 168 gr. Sierra MK on top of 49 gr. Reloder 15, on top of CCI BR primers and in Norma brass it is generating 2800 fps. with no signs of over pressure. So in a modern firearm that cartridge can be quite potent. And crushbup is correct, the factory ammo is made to a standard that is on a par with match grade ammo not to mention the rifles themselves are made with tight chambers and a very short throat. I know, I throurghly checked.
Both rifles are stupid accurate and a pleasure to own.
You definately need to getr your hands on one while you can. They are going to be like the 6.5 Swedes. When they are gone they are gone and the prices will skyrocket.

I have to agree. I'm a K31 noob and just got mine a few weeks ago.

They are truly well made and great fun to shoot.

I do plan to reload for mine and will look for a military vintage match to shoot the rifle in.

I finally picked one up a couple years ago. They always looked goofy to me so initially I wasn't interested. But they are very well made and have grown on me. I wish I had gotten the bug back when they were as cheap and plentiful as Mosins!
 
Just got my first! A K31 1941 vintage. Now I am like a teenager in love. I'm trying to buy a 1911 and will probably pop for a 1911 carbine. This all goes back to the old adage, "Only accurate rifles are any fun." Also, you would be pressed to improve on the GP11 ammo and for the price, about $.50 per round, you may not bother to reload.

OK, so I now have ONE. Trying to buy a Model 1911 and a 1911 Carbine and, what the heck, I'll be looking for another K31 or two. When I win the lottery, a ZFK 31/55 Sniper.

Not all dies for 7.5 Swiss are for K31. Hornady and Redding and I think RCBS have K31 dies and 1911 dies. There is a thread in here about this, handloading forum.

Someone told me not to get started on C&R firearms or you'll get hooked like on dope.
I think they might be correct.

I am saving my GP11 brass. One day I'll go to the trouble to convert it to Boxer. In the meantime, I just put some Norma on back order.
 
I have shot deer with both, 4 deer with the 7.5 Swiss and a couple with the 308 and for me the 7.5 Swiss coming out of a K31 is superior. It totally breaks deer down right there. I shot one in the front of the ass and it still totally broke that deer down. That 7.5 Swiss is a hell of a cartridge in a hell of an open sights rifle.
