I have a Savage 99 F in 300 savage ,22 inch barrel, safety on the lever
s/n 9135xx . I was just wandering when it was made. Thanks

Look for a date code letter on the lever boss.

when the letter was stamped it was Not struck hard enough to make out.

Rub a white crayon over it, sometimes that helps.............

the letter on the lever boss is a H and I believe it makes it a 1956 rifle.

It says Savage 99 on the receiver , there is not a letter after 99. There is a letter S stamped below Savage 99. The rifle must be a rebarrel as it says 300 sav only and provision for a rear sight was not made, but does have front sight. There is no letter after the serial number just 9135xx.
