No, you have it wrong, it's "A gun a-side month". They want to encourage us to have a gun on each side of us.
it seems to me there is way too much confusion about the intentions of this 'initiative'. do they want residents to carry one gun or two? if it's only one, does it matter which side of the body it's carried on? should it be a specific caliber? i want this thing to go off with a bang
.........so i've prepared the following editorial piece for submission to washington d.c.'s chief of police:
dear sir,
i am so excited about your "guns aside", responsible firearm ownership initiative. there's no better way to tell the criminals to "give us back our streets", than a responsible show of force. if i could afford to purchase a handgun for every peace-loving citizen of your city, i would.....in a heartbeat. what a deterent to crime it would be......hundreds of thousands of patriots in our capital city, exercising their constitutional right to bear arms and protect themselves and their communities. i myself do not live in your fair city, but i have many friends that do. i want to do my part to encourage their participation in this bold program, but i'm afraid i am confused about a number of details that i'm hoping you can clarify for me. firstly, which 'side' of the body are you recommending people carry their guns on? i was always under the impression that it was a matter of preference for the gun owner, and largely dependent on which hand was predominant. is there some new legislation or guidance in place regarding this that i am unfamiliar with? secondly, do you recommend that people carry more than one firearm in public? practically, i know it makes more sense to not over burden oneself, but maybe special considerations are being made specifically for this initiative. lastly, will there be a parade scheduled? a large gathering on the mall perhaps? so many fine causes have been championed by millions coming together on the mall, why not another?
again, i cannot praise you enough for doing what you can to promote and preserve our right to bear arms. in a time when so many are doing their best to disarm law-abiding citizens, leaving them as helpless prey for increasingly numerous and violent criminals, it's good to see enlightened communities with leaders that haven't completely lost their minds. can you believe sir, that in one city, they sought to promote an initiative where citizens, many of them young children, were encouraged to wear bracelets that virtually identified them as being unarmed? the authorities may as well have printed t-shirts that said "please rob, rape and murder me, as i am unarmed, and delusional enough to think that you criminals will be participating in this initiative as well." unbelievable. Thank YOU sir for being one of the level headed. your sensibility and understanding of troubled, crime-ridden communities, and how best to address their problems is a shining example. thank you, and thank you again.
