I might have the opportunity to trade my Ruger m77 (tang safety) 6mm Rem for a Marlin 1895 22" 45-70. What do you guys think? The ruger will have a bushnell 3-9 on it. They are both in excellent condition. The marlin was just bought brand new last year, barely used.

I'm interested in owning the 45-70, but think the ruger 6mm would be something harder to replace if I wanted to. What do you guys think? I'm going to ponder it for a while, just thought I'd solicit some of your thoughts for the heck of it ;)

Keep the 77, buy the Marlin.

I've been really trying to come up with a way to pull that off ;) I've actually got a couple guns I don't particularly like, I might just sell them and buy the marlin. That is, if my brother in law has the patience to wait for me to pawn these other guns off ;)

IIRC the tang safety on your ruger makes it a MKI with the adjustable trigger too? Definitely keep the Ruger, buy the Marlin. +1 for 6mm Rem.

I guess you might be right. I bought the gun used without a manual, I had no idea. I might have to look into it further. Anybody have any references on how to adjust the trigger on these?

Yeah I'm with the rest , keep the Ruger the 6 Rem makes it worth keeping.
The Marlin should be a hoot to shoot!

Keep the M77. I also have one in 6mm, and it is a fantastic coyote and antelope rifle.

The 1895 will continue to be available long into the forseeable future.
