Hi:

I have found out that once I get my NFA trust setup to buy my AOW, I am also legally allowed to acquire SBSs and SBRs but they must be C&R (Pre-1962), yup, I'm in California.

Have you ever looked for pre-1962 SBSs and SBRs? Pretty slim pickins out there. My Google-fu is generally pretty good but I am just finding a few items here and there.

Anyone have a good recommendation for a decent selection of C&R SBSs and SBRs?

Thanks.

Slim pickins on C&R SBRs and SBS (and AOWs)? Yep, pretty much. Oh, they exist (Handyguns, Ithaca A&B, Game Getters, shorty Winchesters, etc.) but they aren't super common on the NFA market.

Anywho, find what you want and regularly check the standard sources (web auctions yield the occasional gem). Eventually, you'll strike gold. Good luck.

Thanks Swing. I have been doing that to a point but I need to figure out a research source. It is easy if you are buying an Uzi or a Garand, there are lots of good research sources all over the web but if you want "some nice C&R SBS" where do you research that?

It is somewhat of a mystery to me if Ithaca shipped model 37s as factory SBSs or if they were converted along the line by the owners?

I am thinking an M1 Paratrooper model would fulfill my C&R SBR wish, in California, they measure OAL with stocks closed, so stupid, so a regular Paratrooper M1 in California is going to become an SBR.

Thanks for the advice. It seems like I only want the more obscure guns I am allowed to have here ;-)
