I have a Leupold Rimfire Special mounted on my Kimber .22 hunter (a seriously accurate set up, highly recommended!!). I was wondering what other dedicated .22 scopes are out there. What other scopes are specifically made for the .22 lr other than the Leupold Rimfire Special?

Several years ago I bought a Leupold 2x7 standard 1 inch scope for my Kimber .22 rifle. These scopes are set parallax free at 125-150 yds. I sent the new scope to Leupold with request to set it for zero parallax at 75 yds. They did so with no charge and it is now a permanent fixture on my Kimber rifle. Great combination!!!

Good shooting and be safe. :)

My dad's had a lot of good times with a 4x fixed power Leupold 'gold ring' he 'borrowed' from me for his Model 39 Marlin... he uses it for prarie dogs when we can't shoot centerfire.

I on the other hand, have an older Weaver 1.5-4x variable with fine crosshairs that was horrible for hunting in the woods... but wonderful for open plains varmints like prarie dogs on top of my Marlin 995. That old Weaver did several tours of duty as the scope on an Elk rifle... but now it's a dedicated .22 scope.

Just about every scope manufacturer has at lest one offering for 22LR rimfires. They are generally 4x32 (but occasionally can be found in a 3x9) and are set to be parallax free at 50 yards instead of the standard 100 yard setting.

Weaver makes some pretty good rimfire scopes. I have a 4x28mm on my Savage Mark IIGL. They also make a 2-7x28mm. Nikon makes similar rimfire scopes, too.

The Weavers and Nikons are priced in the $100 - $120 range.

Leupold also makes an extended focus range range scope that i have on my 10/22T. it has an adjustable objective and will allow focusing as close as fifteen feet. this is handy at times when the vermin gets close. it is a compact scope and is variable (3-9X). great scope for a rimfire.

I have a vintage Weaver V22 that rides along atop my 1937 Walther Sportmodell V on occasion.

Other times when I feel like cheating I put a Leupold Vari-X III on her.

Neither one has an advantage at 100 meters, but the light gathering characteristics of the latter far exceed those of the former.

To me, the ultimate in dedicated .22 scopes would be the Shepherd 310-P22lr. (http://www.shepherdscopes.com/)
A mere pittance at $599.00 direct from Shepherd.

Rabbit.

Sightron makes a 3-9 x 32mm rimfire scope with fine crosshairs and parallax set for 50 yards. Not sure if I can recommend it. I bought one, and was unable to get it to focus properly. I could get sharp crosshairs and a fuzzy target, or fuzzy crosshairs and a sharp target, and I could even get them both fuzzy.

I sent it in last week, will see how it comes back.

Check out

good airgun scopes. For years these were the only ones out there routinely made with 50 yd parallax. I have ussed two with complete satisfaction. Airgun scopes are actually stronger than firearm scopes, because they have to be braced for bidirectional recil.

I do have a Beeman Hakco airgun 2.5x scope on my Ruger 10/22. Clear, sharp, short scope, with a wide view, a bargain when I picked it up in the 80's for $35, when a Sporting goods company was going out of the gun business.
I guess I have an eye for good scopes.... :)
