Dedicated wadcutter target revolver

Nice thread.
May I ask. Is a .38 wadcutter more accurate in a .38 Special revolver than in a comparable .357 Magnum?
I'm in the market for a .357 Magnum, but will shoot mostly target/wadcutter .38 Special rounds in it. Or will a .38 Special revolver be a better option from the start?
I'm thinking of either a Ruger Security Six or a Ruger GP100. But a Taurus 608 with 8 shots also sounds so good! Or will a much older S&W .357 be a better option than the Rugers? I can't afford a brand new S&W right now.

If you intended to shoot mostly single action then I would opt for the Colt Officers Model. You can find plenty of used Colt OM's on the market and they are superbly accurate and have a great single action trigger.
However if you intend to shoot a significant amount of double action then I would opt for the S&W K-38/Model 14 in any of it's variations. In my opinion the S&W DA trigger system is superior to the Colt DA trigger.

It depends. If you want versatility, get a 357. Many 357s are quite accurate with 38 wadcutters. If I wanted a serious dedicated target revolver, I'd get a Model 14 S&W and they only come in 38 Special. Or I'd get a Colt Python Target in 38 Special if I felt like selling a kidney to afford one.

Just in response to a couple of questions on the Colt Officers Model I posted.

Other than the King's front sights on the gun there are no other markings on the piece to indicate who else may have worked on it. I got the gun as a consignment piece in the used gun rack at a local gunatorium. Mostly it is stock Colt.

The Python is the most accurate gun for HBWC's I've shot. Better than the S&W 67 I used to own and better than my Freedom Arms 97 or my GP100.

Interesting, YMMV I guess as I sold my last one as it was my worst! Though on a positive note I was able to sell the last python and get a nice j frame and a cobra that I am enjoying
