deerfield ruger rifle scope for whitetail

hey guys whats up im a new to here and im looking foward to getting to know things about shooting and anything els involved in firearms and hunting, well anyway i have a quick question im soon going to buy a ruger deefield carbine and i need a scope, im gunna be useing it for hunting whitetail deer in upstate ny, what would be the best model scope for me and what number power do i go for a high power scope or a low power scope any one have any suggestions on scopes id like to know the model and scope name this way i can look it up and see for myself, i also would like to get a scope that is kind of diffrent from just ur usual hunting scope wth just plain old cross hairs id like somethin unique maybe somethin that looks like a sniper scope recticle, thanks

Have a Leupold 1.5 - 5 VariXIII with heavy duplex cross hairs on my Deerfield. You're limited a little of what type of scope you can mount due to the fixed location of the rings and the gun ejects from the top of the receiver. If you put on anything too big, not only will it look strange, but ruin the handling of the gun and could interfier with the ejection of empty cases..
Don't think the .44 mag needs much of a high power. Normally just use the 1.5 on mine unless shooting for fun at the gravel pit. suggest you keep the power low and the scope small in order to take advantage of the .44 carbine.
