'Delayed' when buying a new gun

I've had this happen before...after I had my CHL

So I called the State (Colorado, where I was residing and where I tried to make the purchase), more specifically the CBI. "The guy" logged right into "the system," saw what happened and why and told me to expect a call from someone on Monday (I was buying on Saturday).

I got the call and, to make a very long story short, the Office of the Attorney General took over and got things resolved, quickly and with an attitude of "we care for our citizens' rights" sort of attitude. It was great!

I never had another problem. It also had one benefit I didn't anticipate: preventing me from buying a Glock in 45 GAP!!!

The moral of the story is to get on you side those with influence who you can get something done for you; don't overlook the powers in your State. All too often we jump right to Federal.

Keep on challenging and pushing. If you don't, it's pretty unlikely someone is going to stumble upon and champion your cause for you.

These things make me happy to have such an uncommon name, If it wasn't for the internet I would never know someone shared my last name.

kentucky doesn't call it in if you have your ccw. Thats one of the big reasons I got mine. I have got delayed on every gun i've ever bought EXEPT an AR-15! I don't understand how they delay someone on a hunting rifle but let them fly through on an assault rifle. Ah anyways no more delays period for me, thanks to the ccw.

Apparently you can easily get legal 50 caliber rifles but its a PITA for ruger LCP .380 in some of those same states that shall remain unnamed. Now if you were mass murderer, do they really think you would choose an LCP? :uhoh: Gun laws for you. Upside down is all I can say. :neener:

An AR-15 is not a so-called 'Assault Rifle'.

I had a cluster of delays a couple years ago and finally figured out that I had changed the weight on my DL when I got it renewed and was filling in the old weight on the 4473. Never had one that was stopped though.
Now I make sure and take my ID out when I purchase and copy the info EXACTLY as pictured on the license. Problem Solved!
