Denver restricting sales of .223 recievers

Went into a local dealership yesterday and the guy behind the counter had an interesting comment. Apparently Denver has halted the sale of all .223 recievers. Since the shop wasn't in Denver and I don't live in Denver I was good, but has anyone heard any more about this? He said that it just started this week when one of the CBI guys came in and told him about it.

Now I know about the Denver vs. Colorado Home Rule case - what the heck does Denver think, that nobody will challenge them? I am SOOO glad I moved.
 
What kind of .223 receivers? AR, AK, Rem 700? What? Almost any receiver in the world can be built in .223 caliber.

This sounds absolutely absurd. I'm having a real hard time making a decision on whether to pay out the nose to attend Colorado School of Trades in neighboring Lakewood if this type of insanity is manifesting itself nearby.
 
Denver is run by a bunch of elitists that think they are above the law of the state. They have repeatedly violated the state ccw laws, and now receivers are next. I am at a loss why no one goes to jail for this - why can a local government knowingly and repeatedly violate the law and there is no punishment?

"Home rule" means they can set their own taxes and zone businesses the way they like. It does not mean that the can outlaw Jews (violation of First Amendment) or guns (violation of Second Amendment).

Some "public servant" needs to go to jail over this.
 
Well, I'm not all that fond of .223 myself. .308 seems way better to me. It has almost the same ballistics as a 30.06. I don't know WHY the politicoes are so worried about .223. It's a 22 cal on steroids. I'd be more concerned with the typical hunting round. Biu that's just me. I guess they are the type that considers an AR-15 an evil black rifle. What a misnomer :rolleyes:

More than that, the elitists who run Denver think that THEY and THEY ALONE know whats best for everybody else, laws be censored. They want to eat their cake and have it too. Override State law on firearms by citing "Home Rule", then override local law on cannabis by citing State law. :banghead:

On the halting sale .223 receivers, I have heard nothing on that topic, although it is RARE that I venture in Denver.
 
How do they define a 223 caliber reciever?
A bare receiver doesn't have a caliber. No way to tell whether you're building a 22lr or 762x39 (using the AR as an example)
 
I haven't heard anything about this, but I live outside of Denver, not in that socialist enclave. They should combine Denver and Boulder and relocate them to Bejing.
 
Is there actually even a gun store *in* Denver anymore? The last one that I knew of was off Federal and closed down 2 years ago. I though there was one off Colfax near the downtown area, but the last time I was through there it didn't appear to be open anymore.

What really needs to happen is the State needs to lay down the law. If Denver wants home rule and won't obey state gun laws, the don't get any state money for road improvements and/or repair.
 
Denver's "Home Rule" is a prop, to allow their city government to do as they please, using city and state law as they see fit. Witness the recent passage by voters, in Denver, of a measure which made legal possession of small amounts of marijuana within city/county of Denver. City officials said fine, we'll still arrest and prosecute under Colorado State Law. Contrast this to the situation with what they ignorantly call "assault weapons." State law, which specifically does not allow Denver to have more restrictive gun laws than Colorado, is ignored, and Denver says "Home Rule" trumps.
I personally support prosecuting illegal drug possession, but I think this situation shows the hypocrisy of Denver govt. It sure is good, NOT to live in Denver.

I keep searching the news sites and I don't find anything about any kind of .223 rifle bans in Denver.


Honestly the idiots in Denver worry me ... I moved here from Kansas and I fear the Democrats are going to come into power in a big way in the state government soon.

I like it here and really don't want to have to leave, but I've tasted freedom after leaving the Peoples Republc of Kansas and I refuse to go back to living in an anti gun state.

Any number of State Troopers could make the arrest. The Attorney General can prosecute (and he has spoken against Denver's illegal gun control).

I'm serious, someone needs to go to jail over this. Why is is that when "we" break a gun law, we go to jail, but when "they" break a gun law, nothing happens?
 
I live in the Springs now. I was raised ing Denver and there is no way I would ever go back. I tend to think of Colorado as Little California now. It seems to be turning to the dark side of liberal politics :(
 
I'm glad to hear it. 223 just isn't big enough of a caliber for a lot of uses. If the citizens of Denver can't figure this out, they need some guidance. Hopefully they will move to 7.62x39 or 308 or better calibers like that.
