Did you ever sell a shotgun and then kick yourself when it was gone?:banghead:
Mine was a remington 1100 12 gauge with a 30in vent rib full choke. Someone had drilled holes in the mag tube just below the o-ring and made it a single shot, First time out with it i broke 17 clays ,was new to shotguns and trap. I took it back and they wouldn't discount it enough so i got my money back. Went and bought a 301 Berreta (don't get me wrong i love my Berreta) but i sure miss the 1100

Many years ago I owned an engraved single-shot Beretta shotgun that had the tightest choke of any shotgun I've ever used. It would reach out forever. The gun was not a big-bucks shotgun and I dumped it and bought an O/U. Mistake.

Yes. :( A Benelli that I found NIB at Meijer of all places for $150.00! I traded it up for a Weatherby rifle worth about 5 times that much. All the same, that Benelli was awesome. The recoil of that 12 gauge auto felt like a .22LR!

Does this qualify?
In the early '70's I turned down a chance to buy a brand new in the box fully engraved Diana grade Belgian Browning Superposed shotgun for $625 (if I remember the amount correctly). Am not sure now whether it had one or two sets of barrels. Have been kicking myself ever since for turning it down even though prices and salaries then were MUCH lower than today. Ex: Win 101 and Charles Daly O/U's sold for $250.

Good shooting and be safe.

Never Sold a Gun....Yet.....

Just got into guns. So I have not had time enough yet to sell one. So far it's shotguns that interest me. Have bought 4 shotguns with tons of accessories since December - about 3 months. Hope to be able to stop soon, or the retirement funds might run out. Here's how I'm doing so far:

1. Mossberg 500 12 gauge Field, 28" VR barrel. Extra 18.5" security barrel. Rifled barrel with scope. Numerous extra chokes for turkey and even a rifled choke.

2. Hatsan (Turkey) Escort Semi-Auto 20 gauge Youth model (for my wife). She likes the self loading. Me, give me a pump any day (will I mature?). Problem: difficulty finding accessories.

3. Benelli SuperNOVA 12 gauge 28" VR barrel. (24" rifled barrel on order.) Chambered for 3.5" shells. Almost bought a Mossy 835 for the 3.5" chamber. So far Benelli doing OK but I still wonder about that 835.

4. Mossberg 500 Bantam 20 gauge 22" field barrel with 24" rifled deer barrel combo. This is for that other female or grandchild that hunts with us.

5. Tons of accessories....took over a large closet in the house. (Tri Viz sighting system is awesome.)

Man this is fun :) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[ But how can I stop............. :-( ]

PS...my next door neighbor wants me to buy the Benelli Elite O/U double shotgun set. His 12 ga and her 20 ga. Double gun case for the lot of them. Awesome scripting. $4300 retail (for 2 guns). So far the O/U disease has not taken hold. Also I can't see me paying that much for a gun...believe it or not... ANYBODY WANNA BUY 1 - 5 ABOVE TO FUND THE PURCHASE?:)

Had an Ithica Featherweight 12 gauge pump. It was the first shotgun of my own. I traded it in on another Ithica, a 20 gauge, an XL900 semi auto that had an extra slug barrel. I should have just bought the 20 and kept the 12. Been regretting it for 30 years.

I know it's nothing fancy, but I had a real nice Stevens 311 12 gauge that I sold to a friend years ago, for $150. Always wish I had kept it.

Call him up and see if he wants to sell it back. For a profit. :D

The only gun I ever sold was just a few weeks ago. I sold a Benelli Nova 26" in realtree camo. I had bought it for a little over $200 new and sold it at a gun show for $230 to fund a nice little bull barrel Savage Police .308 for $299 I didn't have.

By the time I got over to buy the Savage, it was gone. When I wandered back to where I sold the Benelli, it was on the guy's table for $330. Nothin' wrong with that - capitalism!

That Benelli had jammed on me at the trap range. And it just didn't have much "soul", but I still wish I had kept it in case I ever duck hunt again or I need to loan a gun to someone.

The $230 did fund a mess of chokes and a speedfeed stock for my Mossberg 835 and a nice new 20" barrel for a Wingmaster at a 40-90% closeout at a relocating Gander Mountain.

Ithaca Model 37 riot gun, 18 inch barrel, full choke, parkerized. :(

I still kick myself, and that happened twenty years ago.

Ruger Vaquero in .45lc. The $350 I got for it 4 years ago has long since vanished, but that gun is still being enjoyed somewhere. Never again.

It's probably fair to say that most of us have done that. The one's that I've sold (so far, only handguns) were to buy better ones. My shotguns (Ithacas) are nice enough that I think I'll hang onto them.

I've only sold one firearm, ever. It was a Colt Police Positive Special in decent but not fancy condition. Yes, I do still kick myself.

Hence, I won't be selling any of my current shotguns.

Nope. I don't get too attached. 1,500 rounds through any gun and I get bored of it.

Wow, I'd need a new shotgun every week and a half or so. I think my scores would suffer if I changed guns that often. ;) OTOH, following that philosophy I would have bought about 15 new shotguns last year. Hmmmmmm....

As to the original subject, yes, a few, but for me, most of my "collection" is liquid. I keep the target guns and the heirlooms, but everything else has a price. Now if I could just get that 1938 Colt 1911 National Match back for the $300 I sold it for 20 years ago...

Shotguns: NO. Never sold one out of my collection! Rifles and Handguns: YES. To many to list..... an still have nightmares at times thinking about those never to be replaced ones.

Gave away a gun then the guy gave it to someone else!!! NOOOOOOOO that wasn't the point!!!

I had some regrets when I sold my Glock 22 a year ago, as it was my first gun.

But I was really kicking myself the year before for selling off my CZ 75B, leaving me without a full-size CZ for over a year; fortunately, I think I more than made up for that decision since...
