I'm thinking about a new AK. What's the difference in the AK-100 series and the AK-47 series?

I'm thinking about one of the AK-USA guns. The AK-103K with standard stock, instead of the skeleton stock. Chris there seems to have a good reputation.

I'm also thinking about an Arsenal Inc. SA M-7, on a Bulgarian receiver.

Is the AK-USA gun on the Saiga receiver worth the extra over the Arsenal Inc.? I've heard the AK-USA guns are more accurate and have better components.

Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

The difference is this:

The 100 series is the most recent incarnation of the Kalashnikov design. Stamped receiver, synthetic stocks, muzzlebrake, additional calibers, etc. The orignal Russian weapons also all have side folders.

As for AK-USA's work.....you won't find a better smith out there in my opinion. Yes I think his rifles are worth the extra cost over an SA-M7. I personally am not fond of milled recievers, the strange brake, or the finish that Arsenal uses on their rifles. I also have seen SA-M7's come with canted front site blocks (not often....but it has happened). These are all things that you don't have to worry abot with Chris' work. That being said, both are great rifles and you cant go wrong with either. Good luck with whichever you choose. Accuracy should be about the same unless you are going with a .223. Chris' AK-101 and AK-102's are just about the most accurate AK's I have seen.

I am VERY happy with my SA M-7. I wish they made a 5.45x39 also so I wouldn't have to go through all the crap I am now trying to get one built.
