Ok, I know that real "budget" scopes generally suck and whatnot. I agree that you should invest some money in your scope. That's all true and fine but my problem is that I just blew my entire budget on the stainless Remington 700 BDL that I just bought and I just need to get a dirt cheap scope to last me through this deer season with plans to get a decent one maybe next year or just ASAP.

When I say cheap I mean cheap. I have about 20 bucks to spend on a scope. I know quality probably doesn't vary much at that price but I just want some quick opinions on the following scopes that I've found for about 20 bucks:

Bushnell Sharpshooter 4x32 $19.95

Simmons 8 Point 4x32 $18.95

BSA Deer Hunter 3-9x32 $19.95

Those are the only ones I've really found for 20 bucks at the moment but I'm still looking.

Which of those would you choose if you were forced to or does it even matter?

ps - The gun already has a base and some Leupold rings coming with it so that's covered.

pps - Oh and I hunt in some pretty thick scrubs with most shots at 50 yards or less so I don't need more than a 4x.

Ok I'm taking the BSA out myself. At that price point I think it's best to leave variable power out of it. So...it's either the Simmons 8 Point or the Bushnell Sharp Shooter. I'm leaning towards the Bushnell unless I hear some convincing arguments.

I just bought a Tasco World Class 3x9x40 for $29.95, a nice scope for the money, do not get the Tasco buckhorn, it is cheap!!!!, Go and look at the gun store, and compare them side by side....
The best way to consider quality and brightness, and sharpness....

I've used many Bushnell budget scopes and have always been happy with them. Right now I'm using 4 different NcStars on my pistols, including my 444 Marlin, and haven't any problems except when the lens came loose on the 4X while it was on the 30-30AI barrel. A couple of drops of lock tite on the threads and downgrading it to the 7tcu barrel and it works fine.

UPdate on this is that the guy who's selling me this rifle that I'm buying found an old Simmons that he used to have on there which he's throwing in for free because he can't remember if it works or not. He thinks he originally took it off just because he wanted to put a Leupold on there but he's not for sure.

Hopefully it works.
