I am pretty happy with my CIA VZ58 (VZ2008), aside from a somewhat floppy side folder. From what I've read wobbly-ness in wire side folders is a pretty common occurrence for these Comblock guns, and loose tolerances is the name of game. Anyway, according to my bubba-measurement (sheets of printer paper) the lockup is shy of perfect by about 0.006-0.009 inches. Not a lot but creates enough side-to-side wiggle to be annoying in the end of the stock. I don't own any other side folders and usually shoot AR's so maybe there some difference is "cultural relations" between what I consider annoying and what is normal .
Usually I believe the solution is one of two things:
1) Accept that side folders are going to be more wobbly then the most wobbly, shot out, banged up AR stock (although some people have very tight VZ folders so I hear)
2) Weld a extension on that sucker, then grind it down to the right length
I got out my bubba tool belt, and, not having access to a mig welder got out a tube of JB Weld and blotted it on the tip. Any idea if this will hold up as a shim? My other question is does play in your side folder's bother you or is it part of the badge of honor that come with side folders.
