i just moved and i have a VA CCW permit i just got it :) the address is current and right on my permit is it okay that my drivers license has my old address on it or do i need a new drivers that has a matching address??? and i moved only a county over so i am still in the same state.

I'm not sure about the laws in your locality, but in most of the places I've lived, if you move you have 30 days to change your drivers license or risk being cited during a traffic stop (not sure how often that happens, but it did happen to me twice ... once in Michigan (Detroit area) and once in Louisville, Kentucky).

In VA they want you to change your address within 30 days so the county or city you moved to can collect property taxes etc on the stuff you own. Cars, boats etc. Many VA counties are hurting for revenue so they dont take kindly
to you not changing your address etc.

And do you really want to have to explain to Deputy Fife why the addresses are different.

Dude,

There is no penalty unless you get pulled over currently. When I used to live in Fairfax County my neighbors and I would report any new arrivals who didnt change their tags over after 30 days. We knew they were trying to avoid personal property taxes etc. This was before the property tax relief on cars when we were all giving the county a few grand in property taxes while our new neighbors were not. Don't like freeloaders and moochers.

And yeah I was a VA resident and paying VA taxes while in the USN.

There is no requirement to update the address on a Virginia CHP.

The counties want you to inform them so they can start extracting property tax on your car.

The state gives you 30 days to get the license changed.
