I had a friend over to shoot last week. He brought his AR and a colt 1911. He made the comment "this could be yours" refering to the 1911. I have an AR, a H&K p30 9mm and a Kahr PM9. I was concidering getting another pistol in a differant caliber and the colt 45acp fits that bill. The gun appears to be in great shape. I don't know what year it was made, forgot to ask but it shoots good. The sights are like three dots without the dots, if that makes any sense to you. It's a little difficult to see them on a black target. I don't know how much he wants for it but I'm sure it will be more than fair. If thats enough info for an opinion, feel free to weigh in.

Colt 1911's are the Cadillac of 1911's, by that I mean they used to be #1 until they were displaced by cheaper more reliable imports that come stock with more features.

All kidding aside, Colt 1911's are well made, maybe not as well made as they used to be. Also they hold their value better than most other sub-thousand dollar 1911's.

"that come stock with more features."
Ya, like a picatinny rail. I do have a TRL-2 on the H&K already

If the price is right, and the fact that you have shot it and liked it, I'd say go for it! If you are going to have one 1911, make it a Colt. I have let many 1911s pass thru my hands but my Colt will never leave!

You don't need one but if it's a good price, you want it and you don't need the money for anything else (retirement, rent, food, bills, etc.) then go for it.

In general, a Colt 1911 would be a great addition to any shooter's arsenal. As stated above, they used to be the world standard of 1911s.

Not sure what particular kind you are looking at, but I'm a fan of the Gov't Series 70's.

1911's are fun i absolutely love them. my personal favorites are Colt and Springfield before i got my first 1911 i had a few combat style pistols after i caught the 1911 bug my other pistols collect allot of dust....go for it!
