Do you guys carry a cleaning kit in the stock, or have you abandoned them for other systems like Boresnakes, OTIS, etc?

My SAR1 has the issue kit in the stock. I use the tools, but not the cleaning bits.
My AR stock is stuffed with newspaper to eliminate the rattle of the trap door. There's an allen wrench in there, too, for the Santose rear sight modification.
I keep general purpose cleaning stuff in my range bag, and a Dewey rod in my FAL case.
Cleaning is for suckers. (and most untactical, too)

It's there. I don't use it for normal cleaning, it's an emergency only use kinda thing. I have better tools for regular cleaning.

I have the standard kit in my AR-15 which is the only rifle I normally need it for. I do carry the M-16 kit for other guns too like the mini-14, etc. When I'm breaking in a barrel, I bring the whole schebang and clean the barrel after each of the first 10-shots then every three shots for about 5 cleanings and then every 5 shots up to 100 rounds. Beyond that, it's nice to have something to run through the bore when hunting in case of a bore obstruction or the like. I also take oily rags in a ziplock to wipe off the water if (and when) it rains. Not a stock kit though.
One thing I've added to my AR kit is this cleaning link which holds the upper and lower together so they don't swing around:
As a general rule, buttstock cleaning kits are inferior to regular cleaning rods. I don't like bore-snakes as a rule and doubt I'll ever use it. The idea seems cool but I'm too cheap to try it. Anybody want to send me a free one?

The only cleaning supplies I take to the range are:
Bottle of 50/50 ammonia and water for the corrosive ammo.
Small bottle of Hoppes 9.

I'm busy modifying all my longarms such that i can toss a cleaning kit in each of their buttstocks, mainly for emergency use.
as soon as i get some money, i'm going to buy an otis universal kit to stuff in my chest webbing.
when i buy my M1A bush rifle, i'm going to put on one of the steel buttplates, just so i can have a kit in the buttstock.
I'm also going to wrap a shotgun cleaning kit with rods and whatnot in a plastig bag, put some 6/32 setscrews, 6/32 allen head cap screws, and a 3/32 allen wrench in it, and tape it to the inside of my mossberg's buttstock, since it's completely hollow.
I need to find a surplus m-16 buttplate, and a small enough cleaning kit to fit in the buttstock of my mini-14 and i'm all set.

I have them, but as a rule, don't carry them in the stock. Don't really need the extra weight just to go to the range.

If the rifle has a trapdoor in the stock, I try to keep a cleaning kit for the rifle in there. I dont use them to clean the rifle, but I like to have them there so there is always a way to clean the rifle if need be and I'm not at home. Besides, thats what its there for.

use a standard M16 cleaning kit suplemented with a bore snake use the rods and brush for the bolt carrier and to scrub the chamber in a standard kit pouch on my gear.

At the range or in the field, I like the Otis kit. Works extremely well for those situations.

I do for emergencies. At home I use the tackle box from Hades that carries all my gun cleaning stuff.

I have every rifles kit in the stock. I never use it, but its nice to know its there, just in case!

Not sure if it's worth replacing the stock on my M1A.....

take the buttplate off. if there's not a recess for cleaning kit in it i'll eat my shorts.

If you have one of those silly butt pads on that fiberglass Springfield stock you can swap it for a standard flip up steel one with the trap door. I called and asked them this. I also asked about the stock and they say its their stock, but it looks like a reworked military stock to me. The rear notch is filled, but the slot in the front for the linkage is still there, so I'm suspicious.
