Do you have a shoulder rig?

Kramer's diagonal shoulder holster was very comfortable.

The Galco Miami Classic is comfortable as well, just not as much as the Kramer.

I use a Miami Classic with my 1911.

It works best in in-between weather when I wear an open shirt over a t-shirt, or when I will be wearing a jacket that I won't be taking off. I like it for long driving trips, when it's going to be easier to draw if I'm in the car than if I had to draw from an IWB or OWB. The straps are thinner, but I have never longed for wider ones.

I use a Galco Jackass rig for my G19. If I know I'm going to be wearing a light jacket for a cover garment, it's very comfortable.

I wear a dress shirt to work every day and have a deepconceal.com soft shoulder holster on 99% of the time. I carry my Smith and Wesson M&P 40c in it and it's completely invisible and VERY comfortable.

I've got a cheap Uncle Mikes nylon job. I carry a Ruger BH in it when I hike. It does a good job and is comfortable, but it needs an occasional adjustment to stay comfortable. You pay for what you get.

I have a cheap Federal nylon shoulder holster for my Taurus 85SSUL. I only use it under my armored jacket when I'm riding my scooter.

Old Bianchi X-15 Medium in black. Well worn these days and I have replaced the elastic twice. Holds LOTS of different models from 1911's to K and L frames up to 5" barrels. Vertical hold, no offside carry capability, but is secure and lightening quick to draw from. Especially useful in car or seated. I usually wear this rig in winter under coat or in fall under "overshirt" with t shirt underneath.

That damn thing is over 25 years old and still works just fine. One of my favorite ways to pack em as a matter of fact.

Try them, you'll like them.

I have a cheap Uncle Mike's that I like. I got it to give the shoulder holster a try years ago. I think it works pretty good for the price. It also holds several different guns fairly well. It's great to use while sitting or driving. It's great to use under a fleece in the cold weather. My girlfriend likes it as well.

I'm sure a nicer one will work and conceal much better, but this one works ok. It's cheap way to give the holster a try. I find this the most comfortable way to carry next to pocket carry.

"...a cheap Uncle Mike's that I like..." Ditto. Ballistic nylon is your friend. Mine's for a large frame pistol. Used it while in the Queen's Service, long ago. Comfortable, light weight, holds either a 1911(not in the Queen's Service, of course.) or a BHP securely and it's shoulder size adjustable. Most importantly, it stays open so you don't have to fight it to put the pistol back in.

I have two shoulder holsters. s7_210431_imageset_01?$main-Medium$.jpg This is the Triple K and the pic is from Cabelas.
czrigmed1.jpg and this is the Under Armor from Highnoon Holsters.

The Triple K is an all leather holster and is quite comfortable. The Under Armour is a combination of leather and synthetic and is also quite comfortable. Both holsters do the job quite admirably and cost less than half of their more advertised competitors.

My primary holster is a Galco Miami Classic. It is very comfortable and is especially convenient when in the car for long periods of time (which I often am). With my XD9 subcompact and two extra magazines, it is fairly well-balanced.

Have 3 Jackass rigs; for S&W N frame, 1911 and Glock M20.
Why do you need 3 rigs? In 48 Hours when Nick Nolte lost his S&W N frame and had to resort to a backup 1911, he just stuck it in the same shoulder rig, and amazingly it fit.:D

I have an X-15 rig that I'm still working on getting right. That elastic is just plain cheap on a rig that retails (now) for 140!. It doesn't hold the gun tight and is uncomfortable. I just replaced it with a leather harness I designed and made and so far so good. Now if I can get the belt strap resewn higher so the gun sits higher, I think I'll be happy. I"ve had the rig since 1988 and just have't used it much as it was too uncomfortable.

I also have one of the Uncle Mikes and I don't like that one at all. Something about that 'X' harness gives me headaches!

Armored Man,
Do you have picture of your holster from the back? I'm curious as to how it looks from the back, and do both sides have tie-downs? I need a shoulder rig for my Mod 19 and I might just try to build a rig like that if I can figure out where everything goes.

Couldn't agree more...the only review on their site is one that I submitted to them. I swear by their holsters. Wearing one now.

I have a Mitch Rosen shoulder holster (from their Express line; I'm not made of money) for my Glock 19. It works very well. I use it frequently in the winter under a fleece sweater.

I do prefer to pocket-carry a J-frame as well when carrying in a shoulder holster, since the draw is significantly slower than a belt holster.
