Of course. No point having a gun without ammo unless its a conversation piece. I've an old British "Bulldog" that I do not have ammo for but then it doesn't look safe to shoot either. Only "wall hanger" I've been tempted by, so far .
I have at least 2000 rounds on hand for most every gun I own except for the Colt 41 caliber revolver. That particular round is somewhat rare and hard to find. Don't quite have that much for the 50 BMG yet but am working on it
At leasy a thousand of each caliber. I always try to keep a reserve of 500 after shooting though, you never know when you may be able to buy the next box. And a gun with out ammo is just a club.
Pistols and military-style rifles, yes. I Have at least a 1000 round reserve stash for everything with at least half that being either JHP or soft points. Shotgun and hunting ammo, no, but I have at least 100 rounds of everything except for 7mm Rem(about 40 rounds left).
I sometimes buy ammo before I buy the caliber! But, "Yes.", I do have ammo for every weapon that I own. Not as much as one recently deceased guy, however, who's farm was recently auctioned. There were, perhaps, 20 calibers of ammo and a minimum of 100 rounds in each caliber. Some calibers (9mm, 40S&W, .308, and .45ACP) numbered in the 10's of thousands!
It's a brass-framed 1858 Remington replica that spends most of its time in a glass-topped display box on the coffee table. I still shoot it at least twice a year though, and keep enough caps, powder, and bullets on hand to shoot a hundred rounds.
The least I have is a hundred rounds, and that's for the 7.7 jap. If I had to I could trim and fireform some 06's into japs. For a gun that spends most of it's time in the safe, I think that's enough.
I have ammo for all of my guns. I even have ammo for 2 chamberings that I no longer have. I am planning on getting guns to go with that ammo when I can.
