I am a pretty big revolver fan. Pretty much all I own. But, I am thinking it is time to get a semi-auto. I have had many in the past. I am considering the .45 adp round.
Right now the choices are:
Ruger P90. I had one once and it out shot my dad's Ed Brown. Dad made me sell it to him. Which was fine I was into IDPA and shooting Glock's 17 & 34.
Sprinfield XD/45. I do not know much about these. I heard they have a melonite finish Just like the S&W M&P? Is that true?
I keep hear jam-o-matic stoies about the S&W M&P. Not sure on getting one of these yet. Looking for this peice to be a self-defense conceal carry peice in winter under coat.
Sigs are great guns. But, I had a 228 rust and a 226 that had to be sent back to Exeter NH twice. Very frustrated with my expeience with sig.
I wish they made a 1911 that didn't jam. I use to own a kimber gold that I could not get to work well with any magazines. Do they have the magical non-jam magazines now? I heard if you get Wilson mags you can count on the gun? Besides every gun writer and self defense tactician seems to favor the 1911 style .45's. But, I think that is more a choice of the round.
Maybe the glock 21sf?
What do you think.
I will conceal carry this peice. But, most of the time it will sit in a car safe and be my range gun. Cleaning will be minimal after range sessions meaning no detailed stripping. This is why I am considering these choices:
Ruger P90
Springfeild XD/45
Glock 21 or 21sf.
I like the later choices. Especially Springfeild's new compact version. It seems you get 2 guns in one. But, not sure of their longevity???? any torture tests?
