do you own a overkill rifle?

I have a 7mm mag in Remington model 700. Way too much gun for whitetails around here. I generally hunt with my .30-06 but when my buddy wanted to sell me the 7mm mag with only three rounds through it for $200, I couldn't pass it up. I dream of some elk hunting with it some day, but for now, it is just pulled out once a year for a day at the range.

Win Mod 70 .416 Remington Mag. I bought it for the day I finally get to go to Africa, until then I will give an easy lay down to deer and elk...or anything else that I deem worthy of a 400gr IB.

I have 2 rifles that may be classified as overkill for the targets I shoot.
Both are in 50BMG - and the targets are paper, bowling balls, and an ocasional prairie dog.

I believe you must use the appropriate rifle to make a humane kill. If that requires a larger rifle than the next guy - well that's your choice.

I will not use my 50's for game animals for it promotes the wrong image.

I'd much rather use a rifle that is slightly more powerful than necessary than a rifle that is slightly less powerful than necessary.

Overkill is underated.

I would bet my 30-06 is overkill for what I use it for - white tail deer.

I know my AR is overkill. All it's ever shot at is paper. And it was only 25 yard away at that.
