I have been looking everywhere to find out what the meaning is for the V-Comp in the S&W revolver.
Other than the obvious compensation that the barrel has, what is the "V" part....The compensator on mine is not V-Shaped...

Don't know about the "V" (probably marketing gibberish), but the S&W PC 627 V-Comp is a damn fine revolver! :D

Yea but the SA V10s really are V10s: 5 round ports out top left and right at 45 degrees. The V-Comp has some slots cut at an angle.

I always thought it was because of the unique barrel fitted to them. It is V-shaped. I could be wrong, but I thought it was this simple.

Simple is as simple does. I'll buy that as marketing answer. Did I mention I love this revolver? :D Cleaning the "comp" part of the V-Comp is a chore but worth it. And if anyone has any wisdom on quickly cleaning the baked-on powder and carbon out of the comp please post.
