I would like something like the Versa Max II, but without the long wait.

There's a long wait for a REASON.

Order now and have it sooner. Or buy some crap holster now and be disappointed only to bite the bullet later and order the Sparks holster down the road.

The first way is cheaper and quicker.

topgunsupply.com and lightningarms.com may have some in stock. They charge more, but you pay for quick availability.

I bought a MS VMII from topgunsupply.com for a custom 1911 I was having built. I was lucky and the holster showed up a week after I ordered it.

For holsters with the belt straps fore and aft of the gun, Del Fatti's ISP-LP is nice.

I bought a holster that looks more like the Del Fatti, than the VMII, the Brigade M-11. It took about 18 weeks to arrive. But I was having a second 1911 built that would go in that holster, so time was not an issue.

Brigade is not currently taking orders and Del Fatti is over a two year wait. Both of those are producing true works of art, but you'll have to wait.

Keep searching the internet, their are lots of good options. A couple without long waits are Fist and C5 Leather, both make quality stuff.

P.S. try Pure Kustom also, pretty pricey but not too long of a wait.

Look for a used VM II at various web boards. I bought used VM-2's for my CZ-75, BHP, and HK P7 all off of various web boards. The most used was the one for the CZ, as you can tell the guy actually carried the gun in it a bit, but it's just cosmetic wear and the holster still works great. The other two looked near new.

Sometimes guys sell a gun and then sell the holster separately (that's what I did when I sold my P7) and sometimes guys just don't like or need a particular holster, even one as good as the VM 2, and they put the holster up for sale.

Oh, and also post a "WTB" ad on those same forums. I found the holster for my BHP that way. I posted a WTB and someone replied with a holster he didn't need anymore, but hadn't gotten around to selling yet.

Try here, Glocktalk, Sig forum, and the other big gun boards. You'll be surprised what you can find.

"I'm in the CompTac Minotaur camp at the moment, and think highly of them."

Me too! Have been in this camp since early last year and haven't looked back since. Have tried the VMII (a friends) and it is honestly, less comfortable than my MTAC. The MTAC is thinner, therefore more comfortable to me.

HBE leatherworks may have something you like. I have a holster, belt, and mag carrier from Eric and it is top notch. I can't remember what model I have, but it is tuckable, you have to work at it, but that is the case with any tuckable holster. I had my mother-in-law tailor my dress shirts on that side so I wasn't tucking a large wad of fabric. The down side to doing that is I have to tuck those shirts in now.

check lightning arms sports...they had my left handed VMII in stock...well worth the extra $20 to get it in days rather than months

I have a Comp-Tac Minotaur for my XDm...excellent for a kydex/leather holster
