Does the Sig 228 and 229 use the same magazines?

In 9mm caliber, yes.

awesome thank you. as you may know I make holsters and mag pouches, and i have someone that wants a 228 holster, and 228 mags, the 228 mags are on back order, so I just ordered the p229 mags instead. Thank you again.

Just as a add-on to what TLH wrote, the .40 and 357SIG magazines for the 229 are a different width than their 9mm magazine...except for the ones that came with the E2 series.

The E2 magazines are the the same width across all calibres...but are then wider than the 228 magazines
