Elegant Gun case

Met this guy at the annual Gun show.

Turns out he lives nearby, we chat for a while, he’s a good guy.
I asked him about a handgun size case, with all those little compartments and sockets to hold cleaning rod, a few rounds, etc. He’ll make it for 400 pesos give or take, little over 133 USD (wood).
Right next to him at the stand was another guy who engraves for 200 USD.
I know many would consider it a waste of money, but it sure would be cool to have one fancy “BBQ” gun, just imagine passing along such a thing to a grandkid. Wont be doing it right away, maybe for my birthday.
What features would you ask for?
I’m thinking; a small oil bronze vial ( custom made, 30 USD, or I could look for one in antique houses), holes for 12 rounds ( if revolver) or space for two extra mags if I go auto. A compartment for spare parts, cleaning rod, pocket knife, what else?
What kind of gun would you put in it? Pistol? Revolver? Why?
Would you have it done for that kind of money?

I think he would be the perfect guy to make the CORRECT "Tombstone" buntline case...

For that kind of money, that's a total deal. Getting something like that built at a custom woodshop would cost probably 5x his asking price.

If I owned an old 1911, I'd probably put it in one of those. However, I like to use my guns, so one of those cases is not on my radar, nor a vintage 1911 for those prices. I do appreciate the craftsmanship though, as a former woodworker who paid many a college loan payment with said woodworking skills before the degree type job came around.

The S & W Model 25 w/6 1/3" Bbl Len. .45 ACP/AR
came with a wood presentation box from S & W. It had
places for the aluminum cleaning rod, brush, and cotton
swab, as well as a screwdriver.

FWIW - I saved the link. I'd like one for my 625 5 inch. When I
was looking at wood cases a few months ago, I dound the
cheapest was DIY for about $80 and the highest was
a numbered run of 300 in Rosewood signed by the artist for
$300 - the artist on that web site had a lot of his other
art that had nothing to do with firearms.

He also made a case used in some movie/Tv series. I don’t know if he speaks English or what the charges for his other work, but he seemed like a nice man and he said he’d do a handgun case for me for that money. I suppose rifle cases are much more expensive.
I remember reading an article once about this artist, he also makes Safari cases for express rifles, covered in leather or Egyptian cotton, very nice work. He also makes the rod handles, screwdrivers (right diameter for the weapon’s disassembly) and brushes, out of ebony or other exotic woods.

I know at least three people who'd LOVE to commission him to do a job...myself not included.

There are very few engravers whose work would not detract from the value of a gun it decorates, unless it has been commissioned by its maker.
