Hi. In celebration of my newfound interest in BP, a friend gave me a beat up old Euroarms 1858. Are parts available for these? Is it worth spending any time on? The bore is somewhat pitted, and the action is unstable, aka hair trigger. I'm sure it needs some parts replaced. Surface rust, pitting, etc. One interesting thing is the front sight has been replaced with a ramp type that accepts inserts. It looks like it is soldered or tacked on, and the fs dovetail is visible underneath. It'll never be a beauty queen; just wondering what anyone here thinks.....it was free, but sometimes free things are the most expensive, lol, tk

I would take it apart and give it a good cleaning. If you aren't left with any extra parts after you put it back together, take it to the range and give it a whirl. If it runs, shoot it until it breaks. I'm sure you could find replacement parts if you needed them.

By adjusting(bending) the flat spring under the trigger guard you can alter the trigger pull. Sometimes, just tightening the screw will be enough.

I think S&S Firearms in NY stocks parts for them.

You could try VTI gun parts. Euroarms are not listed as a manufacturer but I believe they outsourced their pistol work. Don't hurt to give it a shot.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone for where to get parts, and Swathdiver for the adjustment advice. When I get everything cleaned up, I will try that adjustment first. Anyone got a link to all that Pettifogger info? Best, tk

Euroarms is no more. Pedersoli I believe bought them out of bankruptcy. Most parts are still available from S&S DGW and Lodgewood.

Armi San Paolo made the guns for Euroarms until 1991 and then sold out to Euroarms, both Armi San Paolo and Euroarms pistols carry the Armi San Paolo DGG intertwined touch mark (under BBL). I prefer them to others. I have both. they are actually a copy of a Remington - Beals Elliot's transition to NMA, rather than a true '58 Remy. Mine are in the 58 remy club thread.

It is worth rescuing and shooting. Urberti innards and Cylinder will fit. the innards may require some work to work correctly. S & bS firearms does have some parts.
Have fun. Post up some pictures. especially of the innard parts when you get it apart and we can maybe help you get it working right.

I have "adjusted" trigger pull a bit with a jewelers file, but first clean and check springs.

Ok, gonna run with it. I am sanding out as many of the pits and dings as I can without distorting the lines on the gun. I have swabbed the bore with light abrasives and it looks much better, but not great. Thinking of rust bluing, plum, or a patina finish of some sort. Parts seem to be available if needed, and I'll deal with that as necessary. Grips will be fun; I've got some nice walnut on hand.
