Just curious. I'm new to gun broker.
One of the reasons i chose this seller was because they accepted credit cards and didn't have anything listed about additional fees.

Won the auction, called and left message.
Then they sent me a email saying to send a money order.
called again, sent email reply. Have to wait and see what they say next.

Any one ever have a dealer not honor what is stated in their listing ?

Never had a problem with GB with around 35 transactions, however, most dealers do charge fee for CC use.
Was it not listed on his page?

No problems so far. I've used CC on several transactions and frankly that's ALWAYS my preferred method as it provides good safety for me in the event of a problem.

Had an auction like that. Listing shows CC accepted, but the email asked for money order / bank check. Thought nothing of it. Stopped by the bank to get a certified bank check (free service for my account). No big deal and I didn't push the issue.

But I'm curious how the seller will respond to your email.

What is a "certified bank check"?

A certified check is collected funds, and ANY check (even yours) can be certified.

The local Fed check clearing house hold the money for the check, so it is considered 'collected funds.'

Thew check is embossed by the bank after the funds are transferred to the fed.

A 'bank check' (also knows as a 'teller's check) is a check drawn on the bank itself.
They are a reliable method, but are not considered 'collected funds' like a certified check.

Did you have a bank certify their own check?

When i do business online i know i have to wait for an item to be shipped to me, last thing i want is to have to ship something to them and wait for them to say they received it and then wait to get the item.

Auctions are contracts, you read the fine print.
You don't win a item then change the terms.

Got a hold of them on the phone this morning, like i thought he was going to try and stick me with a fee now. I stated it was not in the auction and he replied " GB doesn't say i have to tell people i charge extra for CC... they just ask if i accept CC"

.... if that was the case you could just tack on a surcharge for anything.

after a polite discussion with him he said he didn't want to argue and he would do the right thing and honor whats in the auction.

Glad it worked out OK.

If it doesn't specifically say "no fee for CC" in the auction, you can plan on paying the fee. Just the way it is with gun purchases. The ones who do not charge a fee, get it up front in the price, you can count on that.

Which is deceitful.
All fees should be disclosed by the seller when he posts his auction.

Deceitful or not, if it doesn't say "no fee", I would email and check. If he says no fee in an email, you can probably make him honor it. If he says there is a fee, at least then you will know.

I have learned the hard way to make them say it, whatever it is that you want to hear, and then sometimes they still lie. *Sigh*

Like a "factory mint" handgun that arrives with a badly broken rear sight. Arghh....

I for one am not for rewarding laziness with extra money.
Not the way i was brought up.

Take a one minute and type: " Price listed is cash discount, Credit is +3%"
is it really that hard ?

In addition to a violating their contract with credit company by not disclosing hidden fees

GB terms state clearly:
"a. Buyer Undertakings. Placing a bid constitutes entering into a binding legal contract with the seller to purchase the Item on the terms stated in this Agreement, the Site Rules and in the Listing, if your bid is the winning bid. You agree that if your bid is the winning bid, you will complete the purchase of the Item on such terms. All payments for Items purchased on the Site shall be remitted to the seller (we do not accept payment in any form for the Items bid on by buyers). You agree that you will not bid on any Item unless the transfer and transport of that Item to you can be done in accordance with all Legal Requirements. You represent and warrant that you are bidding on all Items only for your own account and not for the benefit of any third party.

b. Seller Undertakings.

(i) Listing an Item constitutes entering into a binding legal contract with the buyer to sell the Item on the terms stated in this Agreement, the Site Rules and in the Listing, if the buyer’s bid is the winning bid. You agree to complete the sale of all listed Items on such terms. "

I have 100 + transactions and only had one that was a problem and if the seller had said up front that they were out of the item, my assumption (no communications and nothing received for almost a month), I would have also been OK with that one. That said I usually do the PMO route because I am not in any particular rush for most items I buy.
