I have just sighted in my new Leupold VXIII and it's perfect. I now realize that the eye relief is too long. Can I move the scope back approx 1 1/2" without changing the zero? Can anyone advise on this?

I wouldn't count on it...

I wouldn't count on the scopes zero to maintain through being moved on the bases. First of all, moving the scope would change the overall geometry between your impact point and your eye. You will have to make some minor adjustments to the scope once moved, but I wouldn't just move it and then go hunting. Do the moving on the shooting bench and get it to where it's 100% comfortable to you and then clamp it down, fire a box through it and go from there. Don't count on just the scope rings to hold your zero.

My $.02
