During my first trip to the range with my then new Walther P99 I experienced several failures to eject in 150 rounds. I was pretty disappointed with its performance after hearing such good things about the P99. The second time out to the range I brought a friend to shoot it and we again experienced several FTEs. Both times I was using either PMC 115 gr. FMJ or Winchester 115 gr. FMJ. Later, I learned that 115 gr. might not the best choice to use for breaking in a Walther P99.

I finally took it back to the range again today with 150 rounds of American Eagle 124 gr. FMJ and it shot great! No failures of any kind and accuracy was pretty amazing. On par with either of my beloved HKs. So, now I've finally seen what kind of performance this gun is capable of and I am impressed. :D

I think your right. I keep track of any problems I have in a little note pad, and about 90% of all jams I've ever had have been with Win White Box 115 gr.

I stocked up on a whole bunch of it for a really good price, but I probably won't get any more. I've since found a good source for American Eagle and PMC that have worked much better for me.

it's recommended to break it in with 124gr. you could also contack walther/S&W for a lighter recoild spring assembly

That's peculiar (regarding break-in).

I've had my 9mm P99 for about a year now. Out of ignorance, I have fed it hundreds of Winchester 115gr. "white box" ammo, 115gr. Blazers, Winchester Ranger "T-series" 127gr. +P+, and a wide variety of my own personal reloads consisting of 115gr, 124gr. and 147gr. My gun has NEVER had one problem whatsoever. I'm quite satisfied with it.

I have shot nothing but Winchester white box 9 through my steyr...porbably more than a thousand rounds...

Had one failure to fire...bad primer....I think it may have been oil soaked...but other than that....Never a problem.
