I'm considering the fatboy for carrying my crap around. My current man-purse is a bit small and the strap is too short.

I have a few questions for owners of the fatboy though.

Does anyone have pics displaying the layout of the various pockets and spaces? I'm having a tough time envisioning what the interior space looks like.

Anyone have experience combining the fatboy with 4 O'clock position carry? I've heard some people say that a man-purse could obstruct your draw. My though was that a holster at 4 and fatboy and 5 would help conceal any bulges that might appear at the 4 position due to the carry gun. What do you think about that?

Anyone use the fatboy for off-body carry? I don't plan on using it for that but it would be nice if it were an option at some times of the year.

Any negative experiences? I've heard only good things about it so far, although there are always the man-purse haters popping up too.

I just bought one and I have been toting it around for a couple of weeks now. It's a tad on the small side really, for me anyway. It is well made and will probably last a long time. The main pocket is big enough to carry my big digicam (Canon G5) a book, and my reading glasses. The front pocket carries all my small stuff (nail clippers, small tape measure, spiral notepad, etc.). The left pocket carries a bottle of Excedrin and some other comfort items. The right pocket carries a Surefire 6P and the top right pocket carries my Motorola v60 phone. It has more room for small stuff but if I need to carry any papers, they get folded.

Overall, I'd say it serves its purpose.

I love mine. It rides well at 6:00. I carry at 4:30ish. I've been to the range with mine a couple of times. It interferes slightly if you're carrying at 4:30 and wearing a jacket. You just have to work harder on clearing the jacket off the gun. I swore I'd never off-body carry since I'm that guy that leaves everything at the restaurant, but I've gotten in the habit of dropping my M60 in it if I'm running down to the video store in my drawstring pants. Beats not being armed at all.

Check out Bladeforums.com in their Community and then in their Gadgets and Gear Section.

Alot of info on what I like to refer to as a Tac-Pack instead of a "man purse."

I love my FatBoy and it can carry everything that I need to and it is quite comfortable and not too "weirdo" looking.

Good luck!

I have one . . . . the tactical man-purse.

I like it a lot. Well made looks like it will last. Well thought out, many pockets, clips and holders.

Check out the web site: http://www.maxpedition.com. Not too many pics.
Basically there is a zippered pocket on a flap. Open the flap to expose a sloted pocket and a forward zippered pocket. Main Compartment is behind that and uses a drawstring hood setup. There are side zippered pockets for a cell phone, one for a leatherman sized tool with a clip closure. Also a push clip for keys on the strap.

You can saddle the Fatboy on either side of your body so as long as you go opposite, you should be ok. Same side might interfere.

It has a rear pocket that could conceal a small pistol or revolver. Its padded but I think the gun would print without a pocket holster. Also the neck seems like it might hang you up a little bit. You'd need to try it.

So far, the best tactical man-purse I've owned. Decent size but not too big, better than a fanny pack, comfortable off the shoulder or cross body. Not too expensive - give it a try.

Someone asked where you can get them - you can buy direct from Maxpedition for a premium or through one of their online or walk in retailers. Check out their site.

There is another thread here on this here: http://thehighroad.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=55730

I haven't had anyone make any comments about my purse, and I live in Texas. I suppose anyone who wanted to make comments would have second thoughts after seeing some of the contents...

The main pocket is about 6" wide, by 8" tall by about 2-3" deep. Then there are all the other pockets. Plus the zippered pocket that runs along the back of the main pouch can hold a full-sized auto (though admittedly, it ain't fast on teh draw).

We sell a lot of these at local gun shows and have a couple left.

I have a Fat Boy and I love it! It's my "Tactical MAN Bag"! You need to be careful tho, cause you can stuff it so full it can get really heavy.

What I normally carry in it:

SureFire M2 w/TID
Glock 23 w/extra mag
Helios lighter
Ti spork (you never know when you might need one!)
IPAQ PDA
Folding knife sharpener
Spyderco Maasad Ayoob
Motorola cell phone
wallet
tube of glucose chews (my daughter's diabetic)
Cross Ion pen
Leatherman clip

ROOM TO SPARE!

In fact I liked them so much I now carry them on my web site! It's my number 1 best seller!

anybody try tracking down a small sized water bladder (like camelbak) to put in the big pocket of the fatboy for some uses?

I'm looking but small sizes are uncommon.

Platypus makes some small bladders, IIRC, as well as Nalgene. Personally, I carry a 1L Nalgene in the main compartment. I also have a carabiner clipped onto the key clip and hang a Nalgene from there, but the load slop bothers me occasionally.

How low do they hang--if I turn it around and put it up front, could I use it for extra carbine mags or shotshells? Can they be mounted on the chest?

I have mine adjusted so that the top of it rides about even with my belt, just a touch higher. When I flip it forward, it's roughly the same height.

I suppose you could adjust it down to ride high on your chest, it's just got more flop than what I'd like for that purpose. The thermite, although smaller, may be a better fit for that. It has the "tie down" strap. The Thermite can hold 4 AR mags with magpuls. I don't know how many shotshells it could hold, but 50 wouldn't seem like that much of a stretch.
