Favorite short barreled revolvers?

These days I only have one--an S&W 637. But I don't carry it--my Kahr PM9 holds more ammo, is shorter, thinner, just as light, and shoots better. Quicker and easier reloading, too.

The one I miss is a Taurus 431 3" .44Spl. Loaned it to a friend almost ten years ago and never got it back. :)

Where may I ask, did you get that holster? I have a 4" security six, and a 2 3/4" Speed six that both need a holster like that.:)

More my speed six.

Thanks,
Chuck
How is the action on that thing? Crazy trigger pull?

Sure, it's weird...

it's heavy, it's ugly and it's a bit of a ballistic paradox but I dig the bejeepers outa owning and shooting it. Also, I haven't given it a bit of concern over .38 Special... +P or otherwise.

It has more character than a lot of shiny nice guns.
Well, sure, thanks, but that's like saying "All the other guns love her", "She's a great reloader" and "She sews all her own holsters"...:D

Anyhow, I love it, there's definitely a story behind it and I'm not letting go.

Ive been having a lot of fun lately with my Taurus M327, but the 44 Bulldog is my EDC. Its a Rock Star. My Taurus 905 gets lots of range duty, my 638 is scary accurate, and my SP101 gets the nod for best small hand cannon.

S&W K frame snubs.

I'm very partial to my 66's, one 3', the other is a 2.5", both are extremely accurate with anything I run through them. And surprisingly to me, full house jacketed 296 loads are just as accurate, as +P 38's.

I also have a M10-5 with a cut down barrel, 3', and that gun is all kinds of fun and accurate to shoot.

Everything from 110 gr. JHP's up to 158's produce excellent accuracy at 15-20 yards. The only down side to shooting full house 357's is the excessive recoil and muzzle blast, and it's quite excessive. Those 296 loads could easily start the BarBQ up, they are flame thrower's, but really awesome to shoot at night time.

For a more enjoyable shooting experience though, +P 38's are quite comfortable to shoot through the snubs.

And though a 4" isn't a snub really, shooting the 4" Taurus 608 (8 round cylinder) with full house .357's is pretty comfortable to shoot. The comped barrel really makes a difference, as does the added weight of the hefty frame and larger grips.

For lightweight snubs, I like 32 H&R mag.
The 24oz Rossi snub absorbs enough recoil for a 38 special though.

Under 4 inches... How about 0 inches?

The blanks are a pain to find or build but it is enjoyable to shoot as I sincerely dig training my dogs with it.

Well, it's an enjoyable, under 4 inch revolver anyhow.:D

My first choice is my 40 year old S&W model 60, stainless 2" .38 spl. My second is my 2" nickel model 36, and third is my model 19 2.5".

I prefer the steel frame guns over the light-weights. They are a little more of a load to carry, but they are much more comfortable to shoot and that's what counts with me. I pocket carry the J frames but the K frame rides in a belt holster.

These two KLCRs. I use them for CC and open carry hiking up here in MT. I carry an 870 and one Ruger when hiking behind my house. These revolvers are so easy to carry and forget about. I use a CrossBreed SnapSlide OWB holster on an ARES GEAR belt for carrying perfection. I also use a Cozy Partner Renegade ankle holster when I want/need to carry both. They're not the best looking revolvers but I'll take function over form any day. I also have two SP101s and an SRH Alaskan in. 454 Casull but the KLCRs get all the use.

Ruger SP101 for EDC, although it's on a current short vacation while I EDC an S&W 9mm Shield to see if I like it or not. It does everything OK but it's just not a revolver.

I also have a Ruger GP100 4" .357 Match Champion which is the sweetest shooter I've ever owned. A bit too large for EDC but works just fine for open carry while hiking in the mountains along the Mexican border.
