Below is my new Dan Wesson ECO. The one with the ugly grips:) But that shall be changed.

But to my point...I am amazed at the fit and finish of the DW. I want to get rid of my Kimbers and get DW. I have 3 Ultra Kimbers. One is a Covert, not fired that much, but the grip safety finish is wearing off. After handling a Kimber, which I think is a good pistol, the DW is obviously better put together. I don't even mind the paper clip take down after doing it a few times. The guide rod on the DW is industrial weapon grade with the recoil spring being flat and rated at 15,000 rds. That is awesome to me. This gun is causing me to lust after a DW Valor Commander. Why didn't I know about these guns before? I have owned an Ed Brown Kobra Carry and the DW does not take a back seat to the Kobra. I am not saying the DW is in a class of it's own..., but it doesn't take long to call the roll.

As a disinterested observer (not into 1911s any more), Dan Wessons have been consistently referred to as excellent quality with few problems. Probably the best bet for a production 1911.

Ditto. Fit and finish is impeccable, but alas I can't justify that kind of cash at this time... But if I saw a Valkyrie in .38 Super it would be a "shut up and take my money" moment...

Sorry mate, but Holy Grail of .45 is Luger pistol made for US Army handgun trials. Nice Yankee guns you got there, Laddie:eek:

I've only owned two Dan Wessons, both full size, but they are the top of the heap in "production" guns IMHO. I've handled Ed Browns and owned Baers, Wilsons, Rock Rivers, Colt Special Combat Governments, a Clark, etc. Nice guns with many options available on some, but were I in the market again for something along those lines I'd have to really consider if I wanted to pay the premium for one of those over a Dan Wesson. Don't think I would.......ymmv

I have an ECO and VBOB. Both are outstanding. My ECO absolutely de-bunks the myth that all small 1911s are inherently unreliable. Not one malfunction ever.

I like the grips.

I recently had the Pleasure of being able to shoot a DW Bob tail Commander in 9mm. I have a friend who brings no less than 20 fire arms to the range and I shot from a Walther PPQ in 45 to multiple H&K's to Springfield 1911's in 45 and 9mm XD's in multiple configurations and also some STI's. So, a multiple and diverse crowd, and when he asked what one I would walk out with if I could only choose One, I said the Dan Wesson. Holy cow, what a fantastic weapon! Fit, finish, Trigger and accuracy! Very impressed.

We're living in the golden age of 1911's. Soon we'll be old and wishing we bought more DW's and Colts while they were still good.

The DW is my best pick for a CCW 1911 that isn't just a BBQ 1911 and a shelf queen.

I was just thinking that! "How long until their manufacturing goes to crap like so many good companies?" Get 'em while they're good!!

I like your gun but I think the grips are ugly. I have a Heritage and it is excellent.
