Since the Fenty thread was closed I needed to correct myself. I took a look at my papers and my off-duty was in fact bought prior to me moving into DC. What I had to do was the application process and serial number check prior to transporting it into DC. They did not run a ballistic test, however.

I do know a few coworkers who did purchase theirs while living in the city. I will see what procedures they followed.

Here's what's funny. I locked up a gang member recently who had a Sig Saur 226 airsoft in his waistband (lucky he didn't pull it, but that's another story). He was charged him with carrying a bb gun on public space (among other things).

The airsoft was test fired downtown. I didn't believe it, but they actually had airsoft bb's and were required to actually fire it

My understanding is if the gun bb or not, does not function then the BG cannot be charged with possession. Kind of discriminatory against citizens that actually maintain their guns.

Some council member that is head of the committee is dead set against changing the law.

Can you imagine if the BG had stolen some weird pin fire gun and the cops had to pay a couple hundred for a round to test. or "boss, where do we keep the flint?"

Thanks for the reply, (I was on a business trip for a few days). Looks like one dealer in DC did sell to DC law enforcement, and is planning to transfer handguns pending his FFLs renewal.
